In accordance with Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WPCPFC)Conservation Management Measure (CMM)2006-08: High Seas Boarding and Inspection Procedures, Australia wishes to notify the Commission of the following amendments to Australia's authorised inspection vessels.
Removal of the following vessel from the authorised inspection vessel list:

Australia understands that it is bound not to conduct high seas boarding and inspections with these additional vessels pursuant to CMM2006-08 until after the expiry of the 60 day period followingthe circulation to members by the Commission ofthe register of the Australian inspection vessels.
Australia kindly requests Australian Authorised Inspection Vessels are updated by replacing the previous submissions with the attached list (Attachment A) and photographs of the authorised inspection vessels (Attachment B) and that the Commission circulates the updated register to members.
Pursuant to paragraph 13ea) of the CMM2006-08, please be advised that:
• The details listed in Attachment Aare the details of the vessels Australia assigns to boarding and inspection activities under WCPFCCMM2006-08.
• The inspection vessels are clearly marked and identifiable as being on Australian Government services (refer to photographs in Attachment B).
• Any crew members of the inspection vessels undertaking the high seas boarding and inspection activities in the Convention Area will have received and completed training in carrying out boarding and inspection activities at seas in accordance with the requirements of CMM2006-08.
Please note that, consistent with the requirement in paragraph 13(b) of CMM2006-08, Australia notified the Commission on the 14 January 2010 thatthe Australia Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA)is the authority responsible for high seas boarding and inspection.All authorised inspectors conducting high seas boarding and inspections are familiar with the fishing activities to be inspected and the provisions of the WCPFCConvention and CMMsin force, and have received training consistent with the procedures set out in CMM2006-08. Pursuant to paragraph 18 of the CMM2006-08, the inspection vessels shall fly, in a dearly visible fashion, the WCPFCinspection flag while undertaking any high seas boarding and inspection activities in the WCPFCArea.
As previously notified, AFMAis the Australian authority to contact regarding the high seas boarding of Australian-flagged fishing vessels. Commission members may contact the AFMA Duty Officer on Ph: +61 419 205 329, Fax: +612 6275 6275, or email: [email protected] .
2 Authorities of authorised inspectors using this point of contact should provide the name and call-sign of the vessel being inspected, the inspecting authority, nature of the incident (if applicable), and contact person and a means of making contact with that person (such as a phone number or e-mail address) so that the duty officer can respond to the notification as soon as possible.
