News from our CEO - Julie Pal

Schools out for summer While school is out and holidays beckon, we still have a great deal to do at Community Barnet. We are delighted to be taking a leadership role in working with Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group and the voluntary sector to help design early support and prevention services by the sector. A proposal is currently being developed for a new well-being hub called Barnet: Establishing Solutions Together (The BEST Service) which will start to operate from the Meritage Centre on 1st September 2016.

We were saddened to hear about the death of Jonathan Ashby. Jonathan, who had bipolar disorder, was passionate about mental health and a dedicated advocate personally and through his running of Forward Publishing, a global mental health news and information network. Community Barnet is looking for Trustees. We continue to extend our reach and we now have projects running not just in Barnet but in Brent and Newham. If you are interested in becoming a Trustee at a really exciting time for the organisation please drop me an email so we can arrange to talk.

I hope you have a great beginning to the Summer.

Best wishes

Healthwatch Barnet Survey

GP Access Service - Patient Experience Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has recently approached Healthwatch Barnet to engage with Barnet service users to obtain their feedback on the GP Access Service. They want to know what information the public know about the service, how they access the service, and what suggestions they have to improve it.

The GP Access Service is a primary care service, where people can access a GP appointment for urgent problems, when their GP surgery is closed, usually in the evening or over the weekend. Appointments take place either at your GP practice, or at an alternative GP practice in the area, and can be booked directly through your GP. This is not an NHS 111/Barndoc out of hours service. All responses are anonymous and the findings will be reported to Barnet CCG, who will use this to help develop the service to meet patient's needs.

Please note that the survey will be closed on 15th August 2016. You can take part here
