Netball Northern Zone & Northern Stars Northern Zone is one of five Regional Sporting Organisations in New Zealand who work in partnership with for the delivery of Netball throughout the country. Our geographical area stretches from Waiuku in the South up to Kaitaia and the Far North. We have 17 Netball Centres located throughout our Zone and a playing membership of over 47,000 participants which makes up over 30% of the playing population in New Zealand.

Within the Northern Zone there will be two teams competing in the new elite netball league, the ANZ Premiership, which begins in 2017, the two teams are the SKYCITY Mystics and the Northern Stars.

The Northern Stars have the honour of not only being netball’s latest top-level club, but New Zealand’s newest sports team. The Northern Stars are based in the south Auckland area, which represents one of the largest communities in New Zealand. Sport plays a vital role in the south Auckland community and netball there is thriving.

Netball Northern Zone & the Northern Stars are working together to establish a second Beko team in the Northern Zone which will create fantastic opportunities to develop not only the athlete base, but coaches and support staff in the Northern Zone. Both the SKYCITY Mystics & Northern Stars will have a Beko squad sitting underneath them which is a critical link in the High Performance netball system in NZ.

Purpose of this Role: The Beko Head Coach who will lead the Beko programme aligned with the Northern Stars and has overall responsibility for the preparation, coaching, selection, management and performance of the squad.

The Head Coach will report to the Julie Hoornweg, Head Coach of the Northern Stars on all operational and management matters including programme planning, trainings, player management, support personnel and any administrative matters.

Contract Period: The role will be for a period of approximately 6 months from February 1, 2017 to the end of July 2017.The Netball Northern Zone Beko Head Coach will be appointed for a period of 2 years, pending a comprehensive review after year one.
