Why DREAM? Because we Dare to Reach for Excellence at Archbishop Murphy. We know that if we provide our students with the tools they need, they will go out and change the world. But to do that they need help, they need the finest teachers, the most robust co-curricular activities, and the highest quality campus. The funds from this event are designed to support the foundation for our students to reach their dreams. Your generosity tonight is deeply appreciated and will contribute greatly to our ability to help our students fulfill our mission. Our goal for this year’s auction is $300,000. Of that goal, we are aiming for a Fund-A- Need goal of $50,000. The Fund-A-Need tonight is to generate funds to “Protect Our Legacy” at AMHS. This means enhancing our campus while at the same time creating spaces and opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of our current and past students. Thank you for your generosity this evening. I know we are going to have a special night filled with special moments and I know that with your help with can have a successful, beautiful DREAM. God bless you, your families, and our school. In Christ, Matthew Schambari Saturday January 30, 2016 Page 3 2016 AMHS DREAM Dinner and Auction 2015 AMHS DREAM Dinner and Auction Note from AMHS Principal One of my fondest memories from high school was the year I volunteered to work as a busboy at the Gonzaga Prep auction. I was amazed at the generosity of the parents and the celebration of our school community. Those of us on the football team were so proud of the fact our autographed football sold for five times the listed opening bid. As students we witnessed the love and support the families felt for our school. Now that I realize how much people sacrifice to send their children to Catholic schools, I fully understand the importance of events such as the AMHS DREAM Auction. I am proud to celebrate my 14th year in Catholic education and send my two children to Archbishop Murphy High School. Over the years my wife and I have attended and supported their school auctions at All Saints (Spokane), St. Alphonsus, and Holy Rosary as well as my school auctions at Gonzaga Prep and Archbishop Murphy. We have enjoyed interacting with colleagues and parents, and left knowing we helped to support Catholic education and programs to enhance the schoolhouse. While the evening is a fun filled celebration for the parents, what makes the auction such a meaningful event is the funding it helps provide for the education and faith formation of our students. Thank you for blessing us with your presence and your support of our school community. May God bless you and your families. Peace, Steve Schmutz Saturday January 30, 2016 Page 4 2016 AMHS DREAM Dinner and Auction 2015 AMHS DREAM Dinner and Auction Note from DREAM Auction Chairs It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 Archbishop Murphy High School DREAM Auction and Dinner Event! This is our second year bringing this annual event home to our ever-growing AMHS, and we are honored you have chosen to join us. We hope that you enjoy the annual celebration of our successes. We truly enjoyed planning each and every detail of tonight’s event and working with our entire team to bring the DREAM Auction to you all. We are excited about the enhancements we were able to make with our second event at home. Also, we are very grateful to all the parents, AMHS teachers and staff, students and alumni who worked tirelessly and creatively to bring our annual DREAM Auction home. We appreciate all of those who contributed their time, ideas and talents to make this evening successful. Without you all, this evening would not be possible. You are an amazing group of people! Equally important, we ask you to recognize the business partners and individual donors who have so graciously and generously contributed to this year’s DREAM Event. We are extremely fortunate to have their support and ask that you support them in the future. As in previous years, we hope this evening gives you an opportunity to meet new people, enjoy the company of friends and join the effort to support AMHS. If you want to join the fun of planning and creating this event in the future, please let us know. It is definitely a fulfilling experience that grows and changes each year. We are thankful for the generosity of the entire AMHS community. Your support tonight will provide the financial resources needed to continue and develop the enrichment programs offered at AMHS. On behalf of the Auction Committee, thank you for your attendance and generous support of the DREAM, Daring to Reach Excellence at Archbishop Murphy. Your support is directed specifically toward need-based financial aid. We all benefit by ensuring that Providence is financially accessible to a wide group of families, and your contribution to this effort is much appreciated. This year’s auction theme, “Awakening Wonder,” resonates with classical, Christian education. A primary goal at Providence is to encourage and inspire students to think beyond themselves, to marvel at not only God’s creation, but to marvel at the holiness of God. All of learning culminates in a person: Jesus Christ. In Him all things cohere (Colossians 1:17); In Him we find truth and a path to the Father (John 14:6); in Him we live, and move, and have our being (Acts 17:28). To awaken wonder is to teach in a way that allows the student to see God’s truth in all reality, to see beyond the material, and to meditate on the higher things.
