Border Wars Features Top Alabama and Basketball Programs The two states will square off in this exclusive showcase event

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Inaugural Border Wars Showdown will feature three of the top high school basketball programs from both Alabama and Tennessee.

The three matchups include Ramsay (Ala.) vs. White Station (Tenn.), Mountain Brook (Ala.) vs. Blackman (Tenn.), and Hoover (Ala.) vs. Christ Presbyterian Academy (Tenn.). This one-day event will be played at Hoover High School’s gymnasium Saturday, January 31, 2015.

“We are thrilled to not only be playing in this huge event but also hosting it at Hoover High School,” said Myra Miles, Hoover High School Athletics Director. “We are constantly looking for the strongest competition we can find for our athletic teams, and this will certainly live up to expectations. Our program is excited to partner with the five other schools as well as Knight Eady Sports Group on managing this first-class event!”

The matchups will stage nationally ranked programs and Division 1 prospects throughout the event.

The first game of the Border Wars Showdown will feature Ramsay, who was the 2014 5A Runner-Up in Alabama against White Station, who has consistently been ranked in the top 25 nationally. White Station has won five Tennessee state championships in the last 15 years and has had numerous players go on to play at Division 1 schools.

Two reigning state champions will in the second game of the day. Mountain Brook, the defending 2013 and 2014 6A state champions in Alabama, will face Blackman, the 2014 Tennessee Division 1 AAA state champions. Both programs have developed into top caliber teams in their respective states.

The final game of the event will feature one of Alabama’s top 7A programs, Hoover, against the 2012 and 2013 Tennessee Division 1 AA state champions, Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA). CPA is lead by one of the nation’s top players, Braxton Blackwell, who will be a junior in 2014- 15.
