INFORMATION

Iranian political émigré, Cde. ALI REZA HEKMAT, an ethnic Persian, stateless, was born in 1917 in Tehran (Iran) into the family of a doctor. He has a higher education: in 1938 he graduated the evening literature department of Tehran University.

From 1934 to 1944 he worked as a laboratory assistant in the [Kampsaks] Consortium in Tehran.

From 1944 to 1947 [he worked as] Chief of the Price Stabilization and Anti-Speculation Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Senior Inspector of Prombank in Tehran.

He has been a member of the People's Party of Iran since 1944. He emigrated to the USSR in 1947. In October-November 1947 he worked as a Persian language instructor of the Moscow Institute of Oriental Studies. On 7 August 1948 he was convicted by a USSR MGB OSO under Article 7.35 of the RSFSR Criminal Code and sentenced to five years. The punishment was served in Krasnoyarsk Kray.

He was released on 22 on the basis of a 24 MVD and USSR Procuracy decree in accordance with a 27 USSR Supreme Soviet Presidium decree overturning the conviction.

From to May 1955 Cde. HEKMAT lived in the Senezh Sanatorium and was completely supported by the Executive Committee of the USSR Red Cross and Red Crescent.

On 15 Cde. HEKMAT left for the city of Tashkent for permanent residence and work, from which he returned in May 1955.

The family of Cde. HEKMAT (parents, brothers, and sisters) live in the city of Tehran (Iran).

During 1947 Cde. HEKMAT was given material aid amounting to 9,125 rubles. From July 1954 to April 1955 he was given a grant totaling 8,030 rubles. The stay of Cde. HEKMAT in the Senezh Sanatorium for 10 months cost the Executive Committee 12,500 rubles.

A memo has been drawn up based on the materials of the personnel file.
