• Mark the citation in Word • Click on the Icon «Edit Bibliography»

• Zotero will be opened

• Mark the reference in the right column

• Edit the reference at the bottom Collect and manage references: Basic commands

Create collections/folders and subcollections

Search for a number as ISBN, DOI or PubMed-ID (e.g. 21572031); the citation will be added at once

Attach a file from your computer (e.g. PDFs) to a citation (text is searchable)

Add your own notes to a citation (which are searchable)

For using Zotero on different computers synchronize them on the Zotero server; it‘s a good backup as well

Share references with others (account is necessary) Further commands & settings

Menu File -> Import: Import a bibliographic list (e.g. the citations from another literature management programme as Endnote)

Menu File -> Export Library: Create a backup of your references regularly!

Menu Edit -> Preferences → General: Automatically attach PDFs (is not working wholly)

Menu Edit -> Preferences → Advanced → Files and Folders → location of stored data on your computer (references, PDFs)

Menu Edit -> Preferences → Sync: for the synchronization you need to get an account (zotero.org )

Menu Edit -> Preferences → Cite: get additional Styles; Open Style Editor Different ways of importing PDFs

A) Attach a PDF stored on your computer to a citation with B) Attach a PDF with Drag&Drop from your computer to Zotero C) Preferences -> «Automatically attach PDF..» = PDFs are attached automatically. Attention: Not all available PDFs will be attached. You need to download them to your computer separately and attach them «by hand» as described above (A or B)

PDFs (text) is fully searchable within Zotero! Thank you for your attention!
