LOWER WITHHOLDING RATES MAY NOT COVER YOUR 1964 TAX LIABILITY !

Among the many provisions contained in the 1964 Revenue Act are reductions in individual income tax rates and modifications to the Sick Pay Exclusion, effective January 1, 1964. Also, effective with payroll checks issued after March 4, 1964, the withholding rate of taxable wages was reduced from 18% to 14%. The effects of these changes will of course vary from one individual tax situa- tion to another. You may be home safe. But it could be that the one-step reduction in withholding rates (as opposed to the two-step reduction in taxes, taking place in Winner Best Performance Award 1964 and 1965) will leave you with a substantial tax liability at the end of the year.
