School counselors listen to Jason Champion, program chair for the School of Watchmaking at the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology during the 2015 Fall Workshop held at the Okmulgee campus. The Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network is an essential part of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation’s Trustee Scholarship Initiative. The network provides training and support for high school guidance counselors at 52 public and private high schools in central Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation understands the vital role of counselors in assisting high school students on their path to college. The information and resources offered through our two annual continuing education workshops provides counselors with the opportunity to learn about current college admission issues and financial aid opportunities. We also coordinate campus visits for counselors to universities, colleges and technology centers in Oklahoma and surrounding states. As an added incentive, each year we provide at least one Community Foundation Scholars award to the high schools whose guidance counselor participated in the activities. 2016 Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network ASTEC Charter Schools – Jill Carson Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School – Sandy Nedbalek – Jackie Melton – Carla McDowell Capitol Hill High School – Kimberly Ross Millwood High School – Petra Woodard Carl Albert High School – Lora Souza Moore High School – Nakia McCarrell Casady School – Josh Bottomly Mount St. Mary Catholic High School – Mallory Tecmire Choctaw High School – Doug Kretchmar – Ericka VanCleave Christian Heritage Academy – Troop Bullard – Katherine Cortest Classen School of Advanced Studies – Trisha Draper – Phyllis Michaud Crooked Oak High School – Angelia Wilson Northeast Academy for Health Science and Engineering – Lois Jones Deer Creek High School – Cindy McCachern Northwest Classen High School – Sonya Paul – Polly Choate Oklahoma Christian Academy – Judi Lashley Frederick A.
