Note: Employees will need to take vacation leave or leave without pay on January 2, 2009. Staff will return to work on Monday, January 5, 2009. *Vacation Leave/Leave Without Pay-by proclamation of the Governor or the President, University employees other than temporary are compensated for 12 holidays annually. To facilitate the "closedown" periods, extra days may appear in the schedule and will need to be reported as vacation leave or leave without pay. In addition to the above, the University grants four "working holidays" during which University classes and operations continue as usual. Alternate holiday time off is granted for these days, normally during the December Holiday Closedown. Working holidays are: Presidents Day (third Monday in February), Arbor Day (last Friday in April), Columbus Day (second Monday in October), and Veterans Day (November 11).
