A low pressure center moved northeastward from Louisiana to eastern Kentucky overnight Monday into the early morning hours on Tuesday, February 9th. This brought a wide swath of snowfall to much of the Midwest and Ohio Valley. The heaviest snow fell southeast of the Ohio River, but extended across portions of southern Indiana, closer to the track of the intensifying storm system. Many schools were cancelled Tuesday. A number of accidents occurred. Sub-freezing temperatures in the wake a cold front and potent upper-level disturbance will preserve the snow cover into the end of the week.
