INFORMATION ABOUT DEMOGRAPHICS OF ENTERPRISES AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE KHOREZM REGION as of April 1, 2020

(excluding farms and dekhkan farms)

In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 25, 2012 No. 274 “On approval of the Regulation on the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations”, a database of the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations is maintained.

Attention paid to business entities in our country in recent years

As a result of the reforms that have been consistently carried out in our country since the first years of independence, today we are making great strides in all areas of the economy. The economic indicators of our country are growing from year to year. In addition to the changes that have occurred in all areas since independence, large-scale reforms are also being carried out in the field of statistics in order to reflect the processes and changes in our socio-economic life in accordance with international standards. In turn, important decisions were made in the legislation on state registration, registration of business entities, and an automated registration system was developed that is being applied in practice. Information on enterprises and organizations was compiled on the basis of the database of the State Services Agency under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as of April 1, 2020 (excluding farms and dekhkan farms).

The number of the registered enterprises and organizations (units)

As of April 1, 2020, the number of 21 188 registered enterprises and organizations 17 313 reached 21 188 units, which is 22,3 % 14 614 more than the same period last year. As a result, the number of operating enterprises and organizations, compared to the same period last year, increased by 3 531 (21,5 %) and reached 19 921 units. 2018 2019 2020

As of April 1, 2020, the number of registered enterprises and organizations amounted to 21 188 units and if we consider the types of economic activity, the trade sector accounts for 26,8 %, industry 17,0%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries 10,0 %, construction 9,1 %, accommodation and food services 6,6 %, transportation and storage of 3,5 %, health and social services 2,2 %, information and communications 1,3 %, to other areas of economic activity 23,5 %.

As you can see, the distribution of the number of the registered enterprises and organizations is as follows: in the city of Urgench it comprises 5 001 and 2 290 in Urgench region, while in Khiva city the number comes to 1 873 units and 1 727 units in Khiva region; as to Khanka region it amounts 1 635 units whereas it is a bit less in Khazarasp region comprising 1 515 units. Here are more numbers and regions ranging: 1 372 units in Kushkupyr region, 1 353 units in Gurlen region, 1 252 units in Yangiaryk region, 1 129 units in Bagat region, 1 064 units in Shavat region and finally, 977 units in Yangibazar region.

The number of operating enterprises and organizations, compared with the same period last year, increased by 3 531 units (21,5 %) and their total number has reached 19 921 units.

Newly created enterprises and organizations

In January-March 2020, 1 654 enterprises and organizations were created, which is 11,6 % less than the same period last year. The largest part of the total number of newly created enterprises and organizations is in the city of Urgench - 286 (units), Yangibazar region - 167 (units), Gurlen region - 160 (units) and Kushkupyr region- 152 (units). In contrast, the following regions showed a low creation rates: Shavat region - 70 (units), Khazarasp region - 85 (units), Khiva region - 96 (units) and Bagat region – 111 ( units).

In January-March 2020, the number of newly created enterprises and organizations by type of economic activity in the field of trade amounted to 459 (units), industry 397 (units), agriculture, forestry and fisheries 380 (units), accommodation services and food 106 (units), construction 93 (units), transportation and storage 37 (units), health and social services 34 (units), information and communication 23 (units), as well as in the field of other types 125 (units).

The largest number of the existing small enterprises and microfirms reached in Urgench city – 3 904 (23,3 %), 1 863 – in Urgench region (11,1 %), 1 645- in Khiva (9,8 %) and 1 363 – in Khiva region (8,1 %). The total number of operating small enterprises and micro firms comprise 16 742 (units), 5 330 (31,8 %) of which come to trade, while industry accounts - 3 350 (20,0 %), agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1 935 (11,6 %), construction - 1 794 (10,7 %), accommodation and food services – 1 283 (7,7 %), transportation and storage services – 687 (4,1 %), healthcare and the provision of social services - 373 (2,2 %), information and communication – 243 (1,5 %), and other economic activities amounting 1 747 (10,4 %).

According to the results of January-March 2020, the number of newly created small enterprises and microfirms amounted to 1 633 units, which is 171 (units) less than the same period last year. The largest number of newly created small businesses falls on the city of Urgench (283 units), Yangibazar (166 units), Gurlen (159 units), Kushkupyr (150 units), Urgench (137 units), Khanka (135 units), the city of Khiva (133 units), Yangiaryk (116 units), Bagat (110 units), Khiva (93 units), Khazarasp (82 units) and Shavat (69 units) regions.

If we consider the number of newly created small enterprises and microfirms by type of economic activity, the largest amount falls on the sphere of trade - 459 units, industry - 396 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 379 units and accommodation and food services - 106 units. The smallest number falls on the sphere of information and communication - 23 units, health care and the provision of social services - 34 units, as well as transportation and storage - 37 units.

Number of family enterprises

As of April 1, 2020, the number of registered family enterprises that passed state registration as legal entities amounted to 3 243 units, of which the operating ones reached 3 044 units, or 93,9 %. Compared to the previous year, an increase in the number of registered and operating family enterprises averaged 84,2 %.

If we consider the number of newly created family enterprises by type of economic activity, the highest share falls on industry – 31,4 % (207 units), trade – 25,8 % (170 units), agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 23,1 % (152 units), accommodation and food services – 11,2 % (74 units), healthcare and the provision of social services – 1,4 % (9 units), information and communication – 0,6 % (4 units), construction – 0,3 % (2 units), transportation and storage – 0,3 % (2 units) and other types – 5,9 % (39 units).

Enterprises with foreign capital

As of April 1, 2020, the number of operating enterprises with foreign capital amounted to 150 units. Compared to the same period last year, their number increased by 69 units, or 85,2 %. The majority of existing enterprises with foreign capital are in the city of Urgench - 45 (30,0 %), Urgench region - 19 (12,7 %) and the city of Khiva – 14 (9,3 %). The smallest part of them was recorded in Yangiaryk 6 (4,0 %), Kushkupyr - 6 (4,0 %), Gurlen 7 (4,7 %) and Hanka - 7 (4,7 %) regions.

Newly established enterprises with foreign capital According to the results of January-March 2020, there were created 21enterprises with foreign capital in Khorezm Province. Compared to the same period last year, this number increased by 8 units. The amount of enterprises with foreign capital reached 10 (47,5 %) in Urgench city, in Urgench region – 3 (14,3 %) and 3 (14,3 %) in the city of Khiva. The smallest number was recorded in Hanka region – 1 (4,8 %), Khazarasp region 1 (4,8 %) and Yangibazar region – 1 (4,8 %).

If we consider newly created enterprises with the participation of foreign capital by type of economic activity, the largest number of them falls on construction (6 units), trade (5 units), industry (4 units), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (2 units) accommodation and food services (2 units), healthcare and social services (1 unit) and other activities (1 unit)
