the MSPT, we like to refer to Joe Barnard as “The OnNext Big Thing.” That’s because, in our opinion, it’s only a matter of time before he ships a major tournament like a MPST or gold bracelet. Born September 10, 1990, Barnard grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, which is where he still calls home. In 2014, he graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Mathematics. “I’ve always been a rather quiet person and this made me a pretty lackluster job seeker, but I had managed to build up a solid poker bankroll from scratch online and then again live post Black Friday,” Barnard explains. “So, pursuing live poker as an income means out of college seemed to be a good fit.” On the MSPT, Barnard has cashed 10 times dating back to 2014. During that time, he has made two final tables and amassed $64,416 in earnings. That includes $23,512 for finishing fourth in the MSPT Running Aces earlier this season. He also placed third for $19,074 in the MSPT Season 7 Grand Falls.
