Baseball (BA) (www..com.au) is a National Sporting Organisation (NSO) recognised as the official governing body for the sport of by , the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the World Baseball Confederation (WBSC) and leagues around the world including (MLB), Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), Korean Professional Baseball (KBO) and Chinese Professional Baseball (CPBL).

The Board of BA comprises 10 Directors and is administered by a CEO and team of employees who are responsible for the day to day delivery of our core operational areas including the Australian Baseball League (ABL), International, Participation/Grassroots, High Performance, Digital/TV, Finance and Accounting and Events.

BA has seven (7) State and Territory members (‘Members’), and approximately 400 clubs and 55,000+ grassroots members.

BA owns and operates the Australian Baseball League (www.theabl.com.au) which is a professional league in its 11th year of operation involving teams from , , , , and Brisbane, together with recent expansion teams Korea and Auckland – all of which are operated by individual licence holders.

BA and the ABL have a significant international focus which involves deep engagement with all of the professional leagues outlined above - which continues to expand at a significant rate given the huge popularity of Baseball as a sport in Taiwan, Korea, Japan and the USA.

Team Australia is the 6th ranked team in the World in both Men’s and Women’s Baseball.

With the unanimous support of its Members, the BA Constitution has recently been amended. As part of this constitutional review, the existing seven (7) director Board has been expanded to a ten (10) director Board which incorporates three (3) directors to be elected by the Members.

BA is seeking diversity on its Board and management team and is seeking the services of suitably qualified national directors to join the Board.

Successful candidates must possess the following general skillsets:

• Demonstrated Board or senior executive experience. • Highly developed skills in developing, executing and reviewing strategy. • A comprehensive understanding of corporate governance principles. • Strong communication skills. • A willingness to provide mentorship and strategic direction.

Each director on the BA Board also has a ‘portfolio’ which relates to key elements of the BA strategic plan. As such, in addition to the general skillsets, we are seeking candidates for the Board with specific experience in one or more of the following areas:

• TV and Digital. • High Performance. • Commercial sport. • Finance and Accounting. • Participation and Grassroots.
