Feast of the 103 CALENDAR

The land’s first Christian was baptized in China in 1784, and there were already Sun. 10/4 – RE Class #4 thousands of Korean believers by the time the first priest (Feast of St. Francis) arrived in 1795. Pope Saint John Paul II canonized 100 Koreans and three French missionaries who had been Wed. 10/7 – Feast of Our Lady of the martyred between 1839 and 1867, when he visited Holy Rosary in 1984. Among them were bishops and priests, including St. Andrew Taegon, Korea’s first indigenous priest. But for the most part they were lay persons: 47 women and 45 men.

Today, the Church in is home to 5.8 million Catholics (11% of Korea’s population). And the country’s rapidly growing Catholic populationcontinues to be inspired by the witness of the martyrs.

Prayer: O God, you have created all nations and you are their salvation. In the land of Korea your call to Catholic faith formed a people of adoption, whose growth you nurtured by the blood of Andrew, Paul, and their CLASS COMPETITION companions. Through their martyrdom and their (points earned) intercession grant us strength that we too may remain faithful to your commandments even until death. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and KINDER & 1ST: reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and 2ND: ever. Amen. 3RD: (from The Roman Missal) 4TH/5th:
