DL20SWA912001 Cadet Priyanshi Jesus And Mary College, Delhi University Group C Delhi Directorate NCC Camps and Training Tough times never last, but tough people do. If you’re a part of a youth organisation like NCC, this quote is not just a mere collection of words, but a lifestyle. It is this one quote that pushes every cadet even after hours of rigorous training and barely any sleep, to wake up go on about their duties and feel worthy of the uniform that they so proudly carry. I have had the opportunity to be a part of this glorious organisation ever since I was in grade 8th and I look back feeling proud content with my decision of being a part of such an organisation that helped me mould my personality during my most crucial and confusing teen years. Throughout my tenure in NCC, I’ve attended several camps and each came with a new experience. But the experience of the most prestigious camp in NCC is the one that really sticks with you. Republic Day Camp, known as RDC is considered to be the toughest and one of the most prestigious camp. The training for the same starts months before the main event. Training day and night (quite literally) in different aspects, from drill to dancing and practicing commanding a contingent to singing. The aura of the camp is so vibrant yet so fierce. To excel you must be excelling in different fields and focus on a holistic skill development. The training is very strict, as they are preparing you to represent your state. There’s very little room for mistakes when you are the representatives of your state at a camp where people come from not only all across the country but allied nations. The camp officially begins with the celebration of a new year and lasts for a month. The camp is held at DG NCC which is located in Delhi Cantt. The aura of the camp is not something that I could put in words and that would actually hold the meaning of it to its core, but the closest I could say is that it is “a disciplined cultural fair”. The camp gives you an opportunity to interact with people from all across the country and get to know about their culture through various activities like cultural dance, folk song, NIP, Flag area decoration and briefing and also living under one area and sharing your meals with them. The camp is mainly held to select best of the best cadets to form a contingent that will walk on Rajpath on the auspicious occasion of republic day. But there are various activities like visits, lecture and competition that keeps everybody on their toes and gives you experiences that stays with you for life. NCC camps really pushes a cadet to their limit and potential. The experience of a camp gives you a lighter insight to what and how the forces of our country functions, and its holy for every individual who plans to continue giving their all for our nation. .
