Cuomo and the Moreland Commission By Ralph Esposito Newsletter Editor

When was elected Governor he promised to fight against public corruption. He used the Moreland Act to create the Moreland Commission to investigate public corruption. It has come to light that an aide of his Honor, Cuomo has been trying to block the Commission’s investigations by stopping

Cuomo’s office suggested that the commission “did not understand the budget or legislative process, or how state government worked,” and this was the reason they (the Moreland Commission) needed guidance from Cuomo's aide. It is interesting to note the lack of any upstate democrats under investigation. A number of down state democrats, in districts that are overwhelmingly democrat (therefore safe) did come under scrutiny. While republicans, especially in upstate NY appeared to be targeted. Of course knowing how fair, hon- est and pure (pure as the wind driven snow in Chernobyl) our governor is (not to men- tion his keen sense of fair play), I would never suggest that this is really an effort on his part to knock off republicans in the NY Senate through the suggestion of cor- ruption. If that happened, the democrats might gain a firm majority in the NYS Senate despite efforts to vote out several democrat state Senators. We shall see… Firing Lines page 16

There is an OPEN BAR until 7:00 PM with a cash bar after dinner. Our guest speaker is Carl Paladino, 2010 New York State candidate for Governor. The SAFE Act is a personal attack not only on our 2nd Amendment rights, but several other Amendments in the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution. We need your support not only for the banquet, but in continuing our stand against the SAFE Act. We need to continue to build our membership, raise additional funds to support the various lawsuits, and get our fellow citizens out to vote in this important 2014 election year, in New York State. We need the support of business, community leaders, and local government to stand up to the current state government and be counted. We are asking you, our members, to contact the many likeminded voting citizens, businesses, and community leaders, of New York State, and encourage them to attend this banquet, or at least join SCOPE.
