Dacia, one of the pillars of the Renault group

Renault acquired a 51% stake in Dacia in 1999. The Group immediately initiated two projects, modernising the Romanian production site and, at the same time, designing a broadly affordable car and putting in place the conditions to produce it in Romania. The X90 (Logan) programme was officially launched in the same year.

Between 1999 and 2004, the Renault group invested €489 million to comprehensively modernise Dacia. The Group increased its share in Dacia (to 81.4% in 2000, 92.72% in 2001 and 99.43 % in 2003) and the French and Romanian teams worked together on two product launches, Supernova in 2000 and Solenza in 2003, getting to know each other in preparation for the launch of the X90.

Ten years ago, a few days before the opening of the Paris Motor Show, Renault officially announced the launch of the Dacia brand in June 2005. Starting at €7,500 euros, Logan offered unrivalled value for money and roominess. Today, New Logan remains true to the brand’s founding values, making new cars available to the greatest number at a price that remains affordable: €7,700.

Under the impetus of , Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Renault group since 2005, the Dacia brand has seen significant expansion. Present in 43 countries, it now sells a complete range of passenger cars, light utility vehicles and an immensely successful SUV, Duster.

12 DACIA, CUSTOMER-DRIVEN SUCCESS

Dacia customers are the opposite of reticent when it comes to expressing their commitment to the Dacia brand, as witnessed in immensely successful Dacia community events and a strong participation rate in the social media.

Dacia Community continues to grow

Sales performance aside, Dacia brand customers come together around shared values, based on a free-thinking, straightforward and generous approach. The picnics organised in a number of countries are positive, feel-good events that create strong ties between the brand and its customers.

Nearly 14,000 Dacia fans attended the picnic in France in the Paris region on 29 June 2014. Arriving in over 3,100 vehicles, the participants once again proved faithful to the major annual meet of the Dacia owner community.

The fourth Dacia picnic in Bulgaria was held on 21 June. The event drew over 1,500 people, or three times as many as last year’s. On the same day, nearly 4,000 Dacia fans met up at Sikland, the biggest amusement park in the Czech Republic.

The Dacia picnic organised at Egeskov Castle in Denmark on 25 May 2014 was an opportunity to celebrate the brand’s first year in the country, with nearly 2,000 people in attendance. With 400 vehicles on hand out of the 1,600 sold so far in the country, a full 25% of the country’s Dacia owners turned up for the event.

For the brand’s fifth annual picnic in Poland, held on 7 June, over 5,000 customers were in attendance at the country’s 53 dealerships.

13 In Morocco, a tour of beaches was organized from 8 to 31 August 2014. The “Caravan of Dacia beaches” escorted of three Duster and Lodgy crossed the country with 5 cities stages. With different animations, this event gathered more than 150 000 spectators.

Dacia customers also enthusiastically share their commitment to the brand on Facebook, with an international page and 26 country pages. The Facebook fan community is approaching the two million mark, with 1.9 million fans worldwide at end-August 2014.

Dacia will take advantage of the Paris Motor Show to thank its customers, paying tribute to them by screening images from these events.
