Sue Palmer Motel Swing — July 19 Sue Palmer and her Motel Swing Orchestra continue to attract enthusiastic fans and dancers. The band plays blues, swing, boogie woogie and jazz standards at clubs, park concerts and festivals across San Diego County and throughout California. Motel Swing is one of the most popular bands in the AFCDJS monthly concert series, so this year the band will perform in July and again in November. Of course, it will be back for its seventh appearance at the Thanksgiving Festival where it will be an integral part of the Saturday night “Swing Extravaganza.” An excellent mix of tempos and a strong beat have helped to make the band a favorite of dancers no matter what one’s style may be. Led by the “Queen of Boogie Woogie” on piano, the other Motel Swingers are April West, trombone; Jonny Viau, tenor sax; Steve Wilcox, guitar; Pete Harrison, bass; Sharon Shufelt, drums; and Deejha Marie, vocals.
