For more than a month, parts of the Middle East have been in a state of civil unrest. Revolutions occurring in the e areas, such as Tunisia and Egypt, signify the power that protests can have. Times are hard in every country, and many people fall hort of the realization that they have the ability to make a change. The protests in the Middle East are a clear sign that people are always ready to make a difference. When put at risk or when they have the choice to, these protestors have taken every chance to voice their opinions on subject such as the government and economy. With each prote t come a common goal: to take a hard stand on an issue and make a change. The Middle East unrest has sparked many succe ful protest , proving to government leaders that the people are ready for democracy. In mid-January, protests and riots erupted in Tunisia during a time when many Tunisians were suffer­ ing with high unemployment and a faltering economy under totalitarian dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who had been in power for 23 years.
