Sony Introduces Industry-Leading XQD™ 1 Memory Cards New XQD H series is capable of 1Gbps (125MB/s)2 of ultra fast write speed

Hong Kong, February 20, 2012 – today announced the new XQD memory cards (QD- H32/H16), which allow for outstanding ultra high-speed data transfer up to 1Gbps (125MB/s, write and read). The XQD memory card H-series provides photo enthusiasts and professional photographers with more shooting possibilities as well as the ability to capture up to approximately 100 frames in RAW format3 in continuous shooting mode when used with XQD compatible high-end DSLR cameras.

Featuring an original and intelligent controller from Sony and adopting PCIe interface4, the XQD memory card also possesses optimised to enable high-speed data processing, resulting in faster write speed and performance that cannot be achieved by conventional CompactFlash cards. With its ultra high write-speed performance, the XQD memory card can record approximately up to 100 frames in RAW format3 in continuous shooting mode when used with ’s new DSLR camera “D4”.

Also launched by Sony is a USB 2.0/3.0 compatible XQD card reader MRW-E8 that fully utilises the new memory card. Using the XQD High Speed Driver software that can be downloaded for free from the Sony website, users can quickly and easily transfer large quantities of very high capacity data to their PC. In addition, an XQD ExpressCard Adapter QDA-EX1 is available for use with computers with an ExpressCard™ 34 card slot.
