THOMAS MARTIN AND TEAM AT JACOB’S RESTAURANT: The style of cuisine adopted by Jacob’s Restaurant is deliberately one of simplicity, or less is more, in stark contrast to current trends. High quality wining and dining are coupled with clarity. Thomas Martin’s cuisine is about the ingredients’ original taste. “My dishes are a case of what you see is what you get, with full focus on the taste. Our vision is to concentrate on the essentials without any unnecessary frills.” THE IMPRESSED IMPRESSIONIST: In 1902, Berlin impressionist Max Liebermann moved into Hotel Jacob for two months at the invitation of Alfred Lichtwark, founding director of Hamburg Kunsthalle. The artist had been appointed to paint views of Hamburg.

The most attractive of which is right outside the door to his room – the Lime Tree Terrace. One of the pictures he paints here hangs in our hotel lobby – the painting is a highlight of German impressionism.

THE MV JACOB Our youngest member of the Hamburg family: the MV JACOB. Twenty-two metres long and built from fine mahogany and brass in 1949. It was fully refurbished in 2016 and today takes our hotel guests over the Elbe and Este – to special events like the harbour birthday, but also to and from the Elbphilharmonie concert hall.

Also very charming: rent the launch – the spacious lounge area with up to 45 seats is an original change as a function room and comes with fantastic views of Hamburg.

KLEINES JACOB WINE BAR Built at the beginning of the 19th century, it has belonged to the Jacob family since 1993. We can offer rustic tables, warm lighting and the best wines for convivial events.

The menu changes regularly: four German-speaking regions are presented each time in depth and define the wine list and menu for the next three months. The traditional winemaker party starts the season off.

The Kleines Jacob wine bar is also located on Elbchaussee, directly opposite the hotel.

CARLS AN DER ELBPHILHARMONIE CARLS an der Elbphilharmonie was opened in summer 2008 and called after Louis Carl Jacob, the grandson of our patriarch Daniel Louis Jacques. The brasserie and bistro offer typical French dishes with a north German touch – and the salon privé is a venue for people seeking more privacy. CARLS before or after a visit to the Elbphilharmonie is especially popular – a pre-show dinner is the perfect prelude to a concert.
