The materials included cover the following areas: art and music; African history, government, and culture; Afro-American history and culture; other minorities--American Indians, Orientals, Spanish-speaking peoples; social sciences--sociology, anthropology, psychology, urban studies, the ghetto, housing, poverty, welfare, and employment; religion, the Church and racism, and Judaism and anti-Semitism; education, integration, and youth; bibliographies, booklists, and reference works; literature--biography (individual and collective), pottery, drama, adult fiction, young adult fiction, and -juvenile fiction; and, a selected list of bibliographies. Many teachers, librarians and department heads in schools, colleges, and in public libraries often do not have sufficient opportunity to examine the growing volume of paperback books and audio-visual materials on all of the minorities, appropriate for classroom, reference or for general reading purposes. Aware of the need for information onthe availability of this material, The Combined Paperback Exhibit presents this collectionof nearly 600 selected paperback books, art reproductions, filmstrips, films and records from about 100 publishers and producers. The paperbacks in this Exhibit cover a wide range of materials on minority groups for students, teachersand the general public. They may he con- sidered for classroom texts cr for collateral reading; for required, recom- mended or independent study; for library collections and for personal libraries. The audio-visual materials effectively complement the books to enrich the classroom experience. You are invited to examine the Exhibit at your leisure and to mark your catalog with your own selections or recommendations for future ordering. It should be remembered that some of the publishers and producers may have submitted only a repremtative title or two out of a series. You may wish to write to them for additional information about specific titles or subject areas, for examination or desk copies of books, and for preview of films or filmstrips, or for their complete catalog. On page 30 of this catalog is an order form for purchasing books or requesting examination and desk copies or for preview of films.Book Ordtmay be sent to booksellers or tothe publisher. Orders are not to be placed with The Combined Paperback Exhibit.
