1. BIODATA Mr. Gondwe was born on 23rd April, 1975. He hails from Vitendwe village, T/A Chikulamayembe in . He married Edina Chirambo in 2004 with whom he has three children; Uchindami (15), Uchizi (8) and Vinjeru (6).

2. QUALIFICATIONS

2.1 Doctor of Philosophy – anticipated 2020 Mr. Gondwe is currently pursuing Doctor of Philosophy in Transformative and Community Development at Mzuzu University. His PhD thesis title is ‘Multinomial Logistic Modelling of Factors Influencing Sustainability of Rural Livelihood Interventions beyond donors’ support in Malawi’. His study will be guided by sustainability theory.

2.2 Master of Science He graduated from the , Chancellor College with a Master of Science degree in Geography and Earth Sciences (with credit) in August 2009, specializing in Urban and Regional Development. At postgraduate level, he studied Regional and Urban Development Theory, Policy, Planning, and . He also studied Statistics and Research Methods, Geographical Information Systems, Applied Remote Sensing, Environmental Impact Assessment, Scientific Writing Skills, and Computers and Software Packages. His master’s thesis, ‘Analysis of Growth Centre Theory as a basis of Regional Development Planning in Malawi: A Case of Liwonde and Luchenza Secondary Centres’, made him integrate theory and practice of urban and regional development planning and management.

2.3 Bachelor of He also holds a Bachelor of Education degree majoring in Geography (with credit) obtained from the same college in 2001. His Bachelor’s degree dissertation, ‘The effect of participatory forest management on the restoration of community forests in Ndirande’ enabled him to link theory and practice of Environmental and Natural Resources Management.

8. OTHER WORK RESPONSIBILITIES a. Currently, Mr. Gondwe is the Head of Geography and Environmental Studies Department at CUNIMA. He has been in this position since 2010. b. In 2015, Mr. Gondwe become the first Coordinator for the Master of Environmental Studies programme at the Catholic University of Malawi c. In 2014, Mr. Gondwe was a team leader of consultants that formulated the five-year Polymed SACCO Strategic Plan which was submitted to the Reserve Bank of Malawi as a partial fulfillment for the requirement for licensing as a financial institution in Malawi. d. In 2013, Mr. Gondwe was a team member of a committee which formulated the Master of Environmental Studies Curriculum at the Catholic University of Malawi. e. In 2016, Mr. Gondwe became the Coordinator for Weekend Education Programmes. f. In 2013, Mr. Gondwe was elected as one of the Directors of Polymed SACCO.
