Five long-time supporters of Gainesville College were honored at the GC Foundation's Annual Meeting held recently at the College. Seated, left to right: Ray Jones, Bobbie Gay, and Dallas Gay, all of whom were named Honorary Life Trustees of the Foundation. Standing: GC President J. Foster Watkins; Joe Chipman, outgoing Foundation Chairman; Keith Morris, who received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the GC Alumni Assocation; Jerry Jackson, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, also from the Alumni Association; and Lee Chapman, President of the Alumni Association. National Higher Education Week Twelve GC alumni took time from their busy days to come to the campus during National Higher Education Week, in October, to honor faculty and staff, by presenting all 200 employees of the College with individual gifts. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Alurrmi Associa tion has sponsored this activity. It's a way for alumni to thank faculty and staff for words of en couragement, for GREAT teaching, and for being available and for listening. The faculty and staff were pleased to be honored by their former students in this way.

The Gainesville College Foundation was established in 1967 to generate and administer private financial support of the College. Overseeing the funds raised by the Foundation is a continuing responsibility of a 36-member Board of Trustees which operates through an Executive Committee. Funds provided through the Foundation continue to increase annually and are utilized primarily for student scholarships, faculty and staff development, and the many area outreach activities of the College. In recent years, increased emphasis has also been placed upon endowment activities.
