Start to yawn now. I've dropped myself in it yet again. Many months ago the Editor asked me for a little information about my equine life to do a small article in the newsletter. My first draft disappeared into cyberspace (whatever that is) not to be traced, so here I am at the last minute doing my own - what seems like an obituary. A phone call from Mary Wood inviting me to join the then East Yo r k s h i r e Stallion Committee, now Yo r k s h i r e Sport Horse, began my association with this society. I have been very pleased to see how it has grown and look f o r ward to wa t ching its furt h e r development. Both my parents, especially my father, had horsey backgrounds but had returned to 'normal' life so it was a surprise when their nine year-old son took to riding at a local farm. Eventually they realized it was not "A once wayward Private Benjamin who went on to be a Grand Prix Dressage horse" going to be a passing phase and so began, with their support if not their encouragement, a time to South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Holland, Northern Ireland beg, borrow, maybe steal, any equine with four legs. and Dublin. Drummacy was homebred by State Diplomacy out of my mum’s small hunter broodmare, Drummer. Mum purchased Drummer in the early 80's from M i chael Turner of Sa m Tu r n e r ’s of Nort h a l l e rt o n with a view to her being a small hunter broodmare. Originally Drummer wa s sold through We t h e r b y horse sales and as much as we’ve tried, we’ve never managed to find out where and how she was bred which is such a shame. Drummer was very successful as a show hunter broodmare Smallprint, stable name Barney, came into the Richmond and won at many major shows. In 1989, the year Drummacy family life in January 1989 after seeing an advert in Horse & was foaled, Drummer was Supreme at Lincoln County and Hound for a quality Hann x Thoroughbred.
