1 3. FEEDBACK FROM THE RECENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FORUM

The AVS Officer reported that the last Community Engagement Forum had been on Thursday 10 March 2016 at the Regen Centre, Ricall.

During the open session there had been consultation tables from Highways, North County Council, The Green Doctor, Bee Able, Carers Count and Community Officers, Selby District Council.

The focus of the Forum had been on the Social Prescribing Service run by Selby District AVS in partnership with the Selby District GP Consortia, SHIELD.

The AVS Officer explained that there had been informative presentations from Dr Richard Gregory, Practice Manger Beech Tree Surgery, Dawn Theaker, Service Manager, Carers Count, and Danny Fitz-George, Friendship Coordinator, Carers Count.

RESOLVED: To note the update.

4. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The Partnership Board considered the Community Development Plan (CDP), dated April 2016. The following topics were discussed:

Engage more people within the Eastern CEF Area

The AVS Officer reported that the ‘Give it a Go’ event would be held on Saturday 16th April 2016, 2 – 5 p.m. at Escrick Village Hall and Escrick Club. The event would provide an opportunity for members of the public to try a number of different activities.

The AVS Officer explained that the promotional information that had been published stated that there would be 10 x £100 gift vouchers available for public participants at the event; he therefore requested the Partnership Board supported the purchase of an additional 5 x £100 gift vouchers.

A wide range of organisations had registered to attend the event. The Chair explained that criteria forms would be used to score each stall, with the stall with the three highest scores being allocated the prize money. The Chair sought volunteers from the Partnership Board to judge the stalls.

There was some discussion about the format of the next Eastern CEF event. Partnership Board members had previously discussed hosting a Funding Event in July. It was agreed that due to the practicalities of public involvement and allocating funding in-line with the funding framework, the July meeting should be used to promote the availability of funding and offer advice and assistance to prospective applicants.

2 Loneliness

There was some discussion in relation to hosting community cinema events. Board members suggested a cinema film trilogy involving each film being shown in a different village. The AVS Officer agreed to contact the cinema provider and report back further details at the next Partnership Board meeting.

RESOLVED:

i. To note the update

ii. To ask the Democratic Services Officer to purchase 10 x £100 gift vouchers for the ‘Give it a Go’ event.

iii. Councillor L Casling, Bob Procter, Brian Keen and Gillian Little to judge activity stalls at the ‘Give it a Go’ event.

iv. The AVS Officer to provide further details in relation to hosting community cinema screenings, at the next Partnership Board meeting.

5. DEMENTIA AWARENESS

The Democratic Services Officer explained that Dementia Forward had offered to provide a 40-60 minute dementia awareness session at a future Eastern CEF Forum.

Partnership Board Members felt that the presentation would be too long for a Forum event and agreed not to take the offer forward.

RESOLVED: To ask the Democratic Services Officer to inform Dementia Forward that the Partnership Board did not wish to host a dementia awareness session at a future Eastern CEF Forum.

6. MARKETING AND PUBLICITY

There were no matters discussed under this item.

7. BUDGET UPDATE

The Partnership Board noted the Eastern CEF update.

RESOLVED: To note the budget update provided.

3 8. FUNDING APPLICATIONS

Hornsea and Selby Flood Rescue Team

The application was for £2000 to form a Selby based Flood Rescue Team of 14 volunteers. The funding would be used to assist the volunteers to become Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFA) approved swift water rescue technicians, and to establish a Selby based operational team.

The Partnership Board considered the application in-line with the Funding Framework for Category B (Grant Funding) and agreed that the application did not meet the necessary criteria, and the applicant had not sufficiently demonstrated:

• How the application met at least 2 of the objectives in the Eastern CEF CDP.

• Extensive and detailed benefits for one or more defined groups in the Eastern CEF area.

• Clear evidence for a high level of need and extensive community consultation.

• The continued involvement of the community or a defined group.

In addition, the Board felt that the Selby area already had in place co- ordinated flood rescue services and the work of the Hornsea and Selby Flood Rescue Team would duplicate the work of established organisations.

The Partnership Board therefore voted to refuse the application.

RESOLVED:

I. To refuse the application for £2000 funding from Hornsea and Selby Flood Rescue Team.

9. NEXT MEETING

The Partnership Board agreed to hold the next Partnership Board meeting at the Regen Centre on Wednesday 20 July 2016 at 5.30 pm followed by an open drop-in session for prospective funding applicants at 6.30 pm.

RESOLVED:

To agree that the next meeting of the Eastern CEF Partnership Board would be held at The Regen Centre, 5.30 p.m. on 20 July 2016.

The Chair closed the meeting at 8.00 p.m.

Eastern CEF Annual Impact Report 2015 -16

Chair’s Foreword

The Eastern CEF continues to create a vibrant community development programme. We have supported a range of community groups, carried out research into local issues and supported events taking place within our area of the District.

Following our successful Community Activists training course, developed jointly with Workers Educational Association (WEA), we now have recruited three people onto our committee.

Moving forward we intend to carry out further community events to promote the many ways in which people can get involved within their local community, look at ways to address loneliness and isolation and increase the range of local organisations that we can provide practical and financial support to.

Thank you to the members of the Partnership Board who have volunteered their time to our work during the year and everyone else who has helped to support our work.

Cllr Liz Casling, Eastern CEF Partnership Board Chair

Introduction Community Engagement Forums are collaboration between a range of partners including the District Council, County Council, Town council, Parish Councils, Police, Fire and Rescue Service, local businesses and community groups along with individual residents.

The Eastern Area CEF commenced in April 2010 and covers a large rural area including the following parishes: Barlby. Biggin, Cawood, Cliffe, Escrick, Hemingbrough, Kelfield, Lund, North Duffield, Osgodby, Riccall, Ryther, Skipwith, South Duffield, Stillingfleet, Thorganby and Wistow

Partnership Board Work During 2014 our ‘The Big Chat’ launched the consultation for new ideas for the next Community Development Plan (CDP) to focus on. A paper based and online survey, together with a consultation event developed responses received from groups and individuals.

Our new CDP focuses on the following overarching priorities;

. Highlight and act upon local issues

. Support our villages to provide a vibrant range of activities

. Encourage involvement and volunteering in our community

. Address transport issues

. Encourage information sharing between communities, activities and organisations

. Address issues of loneliness and isolation

9 . Increase activities for young people Tour de Yorkshire The Eastern CEF, in conjunction with Barlby Town Council, planned a range of activities during the Tour De Yorkshire weekend. 10,000 paper flags were delivered to Barlby Library and distributed locally, one side of each flag providing a colouring competition to engage younger people in the event and the other side with information about the Eastern Community Engagement forum. The flag colouring competition was judged at the Community Fair in June, where the winner received a family weekend break at Cober Hill, Scarborough.

Adding to the local festivities volunteers from the parish council decorated areas of the village with bunting and other items. There was a competition for the best dressed house or garden in Barlby and Osgodby villages, judged by the town council, with the winner receiving a family weekend break at Cober Hill, Scarborough.

This was a hugely successful event. The Tour De Yorkshire 2016 route will be travelling through the Eastern CEF areas of Riccall and Kelfield and we plan to support this event similarly.

Transport The Eastern CEF carried out a Transport Survey this year, which was widely distributed and got the views of 480 residents. Addressing transport issues is an ongoing focus for the CEF and support for local voluntary transport organisations has also been high on the agenda. Promoting awareness of their services and encouraging volunteer drivers across the District. Results of the Survey were forwarded to the Assistant Director of Integrated Passenger Transport, North Yorkshire County Council.

Information Plans to develop a regular newsletter to promote community information and activities has been developed and a first one was circulated to all Parish and Town Councils in the CEF area.

Loneliness and Isolation The CEF has supported a new Social Prescribing Service, launched to connect vulnerable people with community activities and services. Referrals to the Social Prescribing Service (held with AVS) come from all surgery GPs across the Selby District on behalf of patients who they feel would benefit from support from a community based service.

The CEF assisted with the planning and launch of the Escrick Tea Shop. Launched in January and held weekly in Escrick and Deighton Club from 2pm - 4pm. The Tea Shop is an opportunity for everyone to come along, enjoy tea/coffee and home-made cake at a nominal price, and any surplus funds generated are used to enhance and develop community activities in Escrick.

Youth Two brand new youth clubs have been successfully launched in Escrick with options for similar services in Barlby and Kelfield being explored.

Community Fair A jointly ran CEF Community Fair was held at Barlby High School. The event offered a wide range of stalls, activities and food courts. In addition there were interactive workshops for children – a fun way to encourage learning. The judging of the Tour De Yorkshire Flag competition took place and all community organisations across the District were invited to have a stall at the event as a way to promote

10 their work, recruit volunteers and to raise funds. There was also a concert at 6pm from 80’s Soul Legend Jaki Graham and her live band. Grants Awarded

Project and Funding Impact Awarded Tour de Yorkshire All households received a Tour de Yorkshire flag to design and colour, with To design and print a flag a prize of a weekend break at Cober Hill, hotel and Conference centre. On £ the back of each flag was information regarding the work of the CEF and future events. Parish of Hemingbrough Transforming a local eyesore, an abandoned petrol station, into a memorial Historical / Heritage garden for community events and a focal point entrance to the village. Society The new garden has transformed the look of the village and encouraged Memorial Garden additional projects to develop elsewhere in the village. £1,000 Selby District CEF Since 2013 the Tadcaster & Villages and Eastern CEF have delivered a Community Fair combined CEF Link day. Raising awareness of The 2015 event was held at Barlby High School and well attended by local community groups, voluntary organisations and groups and local businesses, promoted their services and volunteering services. The headline to the entire event was a fabulous and rare live opportunities. performance from 80’s pop sensation Jackie Graham, which had everyone £2,000 dancing in the isles! Cliffe Playing Field This initiative will address one area of the community development plan, Association community spirit, providing a potentially lifesaving piece of equipment for the Cliffe Community Village. Defibrillator Campaign £950 Riccall Community A t-shirt design competition, the remit for the design to represent what was Primary School special about Riccall. The winning design was printed on t-shirts for staff, Highlight and celebrate parents and pupils of the whole School to wear on the day that the Tour de Riccall as part of the Yorkshire travelled through Riccall. Other designs were cut out and used as celebrations for the Tour bunting to decorate the village along the route of the Tour. de Yorkshire 2016 The project celebrated Riccall and the community, developed a sense of £500 pride in being part of the village and in turn limited anti-social behaviour amongst children.

Public Forums During the year 4 public meetings have been held providing the opportunities for local residents to find out more about local initiatives. At each forum we have a “Market Place” area with stalls staffed by , Highways, Selby District Council and Community organisations. This provides a wonderful opportunity for residents to discuss the issues that affect them with the appropriate organisation.

Topics this year included;

Heritage Developments and Opportunities, speakers Bob Procter, Hemingbrough Historical Society and Margaret Brearley, Keesbury Manor Heritage Project gave an overview of their historical projects, volunteering opportunities and community access. This was followed by an overview of funding available by Katherine Boardman, from the Heritage Lottery.

Initial contact has been made with local land owners to identify any suitable site which may become available for the project. These contacts have already proved very fruitful.

We Have also involved another two local groups – “Be Able” and “Spirit of Christmas”.

Q2.3 When are you planning to start and finish your project? You only need to provide estimated dates at this time. We accept they may be subject to change.

Start date

Day 8 Month March Year 2016

Finish date

Day 31 Month December Year 2020

20 Q2.4 Which key objectives in the Eastern AreaCommunity Development Plan will your project meet? (no more than 500 words)

If your project will result in two key changes then all you need do is list those two objectives. Giving two or three will not in any way reduce your application’s chance of success so don’t be tempted to add unnecessary outcomes just to fill the box on the form.

For each objective, tell us how you will achieve it.

Your project must directly help to deliver one or more of the objectives of the Eastern Community Development Plan.

Which objective? How will you achieve this? Objective 1: Hemingbrough is within the Easter CEF Engage more people from Eastern CEF area and we intend to involve all Area residents within that area and beyond in our project. From young to elderly, able to disabled and infirm. We will be totally inclusive Objective 2: By facilitating community events, leisure Abolish loneliness activities and inclusive groups/sports, we will bring people together to share their time, experiences and knowledge, thereby engendering a sense of both belonging and friendship. We will ensure that everyone has an opportunity to attend the Community centre, encouraging a Friends of Hall for Hemingbrough group to bring people along and introduce them to others. Objective 3: We recognise that activities for Increase activities for younger people/ teenager/young adults, is very limited in impact on Anti-Social Behaviour our area and will consult with them to determine what their requirements and needs are. We will provide a safe space for them to meet (with WiFi) and give them access to resources they may need make them good community citizens.

Objective 4: We intend to involve all interest groups in Encourage Information sharing between the community to ensure that the communities provisions within the Community Centre meet all groups need. To that end we will consult at all stages with all groups

21 Q2.5 Who will benefit from your project and how will they be involved in developing and running it? (no more than 500 words) Beneficiaries could be all the people, communities and organisations living in a geographical area or all those with similar interests or needs, for example, young people or people who share an ethnic background.

Tell us how you plan to involve your beneficiaries. There are lots of ways of involving people in planning your project. For example:

• by setting up user groups to give feedback on your plans and plan activities • by holding consultation days or open meetings • by having people who use your project on your management committee • by getting people who will use the project to help design it.

You could involve people in running your project by:

• getting them to join your management committee • encouraging them to volunteer with your project • getting them to take part in an evaluation of your project • letting them run part of the project.

We have already set up the Hall for Hemingbrough Community Group, and are in the process of setting up a Community Interest Company. The Community Interest company will have Directors for all areas of the community and will be the vehicle for future fundraising.

Our Group Management Committee has been formed and includes residents and community group representatives. We intend to meet monthly initially to get the project off the ground.

We have held two open meetings to assess support and will be having further public meetings as we progress to ensure that all interests are represented and a viable plan can be formulated.

We appreciate that only by involving end-users can we get the details of the project correct. While acknowledging there will be financial constraints, we intend to create the best possible Community Centre for the area. In terms of design we will be seeking expert advice on ensuring the Community Centre is “Carbon Neutral”, disabled accessible and environmentally friendly.

Initially we will have volunteers conducting, house to house, personal interviews to determine household needs. These surveys will be analysed and form the structure of the project plan. This survey is now operational and initial on-line results are very encouraging.

Additionally we will seek support through Social Media and a Web Site designed to be informative and interactive. Cllr Mike Jordan has been approached to fund the Website through his County Council Locality Budget. This grant of £1000 has now been

22 approved to establish the web site and assist with the feasibility study.

As our plan is formulated, members of the group will be allocated specific tasks to bring the project together in a cohesive way.

We have already approached The Eastern Area CEF with a view to this project being included within the CEF Community Development Plan (CDP). This proposal was well received at the last meeting of the Eastern Area CEF and it was agreed that it would be included in the CDP.

Additional support is being sought from the following organisations in terms of advice, input and general liaison:

Parent Power Project Selby District Equality Network Selby District Community Learning Partnership Selby District Consortium Over 50’s Forum

We will also be approaching “Awards for All” as the project progresses, together with The Selby “ Stronger Communities” organisation.

An intial meeting with Tom Jenkinson of NYCC Stronger Communities was very productive and they are looking at funding costs for professional Consultants to provide the input we need to take the project forward.

The Hall for Hemingbrough group will be represnted at various community events in and around the village where we can explain our project and conduct more surveys. These include:

Volunteers Church Service – Hemingbrough - 1st June 2016 Surveys at or near the Polling Station on EU Referendum Day – 23rd June 2016 Hemingbrough Primary School Fete – 16th July 2016

We will continue to identify any other suitable venues to promote the project.

Q2.5 Continued

Q2.6 How do you know there is a need for this project in the community? (no more than 500 words)

Describe the evidence you’ve gathered from:

• the success of any previous work you’ve done, including any pilots • any consultation you or others doing similar work have carried out with the people who would benefit • research you or others have completed to show that there are gaps in provision or a need to enhance existing services.

Make sure that any research or consultation you have done is relevant and less than two years old.

You should refer to relevant statistics, plans or strategies.

Consultation

You need to tell us who you have consulted with, what methods you used and when the consultation took place. It should be clear that consultation with stakeholders, users and potential beneficiaries has influenced your project. If you can’t consult with the people that you want to help, tell us why.

24 Question 2.6:

Over many years, various attempts have been made to get a Community Centre off the ground but would seem to have failed

because of lack of efficient organisation and trying to raise money locally, which, although a good idea, will never meet the full funding required. Also the organisation was not totally inclusive and therefore the total community support was never capitalised on.

We have promoted the project through the “Hemingbrough Forum” on Facebook, with a very positive response and offers of volunteer help. We have also talked to groups and individual, including land owners and have determined that there is both a need and a desire for the project to succeed. At a meeting held 8th March 2016 in the Methodist Church Hall, Hemingbrough, various representatives and individuals offered their support to the project and pledged to help in various ways to achieve our objectives. Communication and seeking views is the keystone to our project and this will continue throughout the project. To this end a house to house survey has been prepared with Selby AVS and work has commenced to gather residents views on their needs and wants. The working committee has now been formed and we are having regular meetings to progress the project.

To date we have had in excess of 500 survey responses and the following analysis|:

Would you like a community Centre developed for Residents?

Yes 98.25% A full analysis is included with this application

N.B. At this stage we are seeking seed funding to get the project under way and our application for funds reflects this. Capital costs, land acquisition, building and running costs will be determined by consultation and seeking estimates. And will be the second stage of the project.

25 Section Three: Project finances

You should apply for the amount you need to deliver a successful project.

Q3.1 How much will your project cost and how much would you like from us?

• Include the cost of everything you’ll need for your project, even if you’re not asking us to fund it. • Capital costs include buying equipment, vehicles, constructing a building, altering a building, buying land or landscaping. • Revenue costs include things like training, salaries, travel, running costs, venue hire, and volunteer • Include any overheads you want us to fund in your revenue costs. • Please ensure you can evidence how you have obtained value for money.

Make sure you include:

• funding from other sources that you need to deliver your project • VAT costs even if you can recover VAT.

If you’re asking us for all the costs make sure the total cost and amount from us is the same.

Amount from What period is Total cost (£) Community Fund this for? 4,362.00 Capital 1862.00 To March 2017

157 Would create a local meeting place as long as it doesn't encroach on green space 6/26/2016 7:29 PM

168 Permanent place central to Hemingbrough community 6/26/2016 6:31 PM

169 As I have lived in the village since 1981 I have seen many changes, the village needs to gets it's community back it 6/26/2016 6:22 PM isn't a village anymore. Years ago we had a fantastic village where all the different groups got together, it's sad not to see that go on now

170 Bring the community together, offer opportunities for those less able to travel out of the village, give young children 6/26/2016 6:16 PM somewhere to go

171 Provide somewhere for villagers to hire for functions 6/26/2016 6:12 PM

172 Think we would have more community spirit 6/26/2016 6:09 PM

173 At least they will have somewhere to go 6/26/2016 6:06 PM

174 Better social interaction and inclusion 6/26/2016 5:59 PM

179 The children in Hemingbrough need a place to go and this may pull the community together 6/26/2016 5:36 PM

180 Central meeting point for all ages but not at the expense of the 2 Church buildings 6/26/2016 5:33 PM

181 Community Communication 6/26/2016 5:31 PM

10 / 38 41 Hall for Hemingbrough Community Consultation

182 The village has outgrown the current facilities. All facilities need to be improved to cater for an increase in the village 6/26/2016 5:29 PM growth

183 It's something for children which the village is lacking. I would have loved this as a child and it would be good for future 6/26/2016 5:18 PM families

184 As the village has increased in size a community centre would be a hub of the community and a point to bring all 6/26/2016 5:03 PM together

185 Really good for community and help with the pressure on current infa-structure 6/26/2016 4:59 PM

186 Create a better community feel. Give the kids something to do 6/26/2016 10:57 AM

187 A modern, appropriate facility available for the whole community would provide potential opportunities for various 6/25/2016 2:59 PM events to take place - i.e craft fairs/adult education/sports/clubs

188 Film showing facilities, computer access and wife, evening classes 6/25/2016 2:07 PM

189 Give something to occupy peoples spare time 6/25/2016 2:02 PM

190 Opportunities for people to meet others and socially interact 6/25/2016 1:59 PM

191 Bring people together 6/25/2016 1:53 PM

192 Fitness/social/good for kids 6/25/2016 1:50 PM

193 Bring village spirit back and somewhere for kids to go 6/25/2016 1:47 PM

194 More interaction between the community. help to keep the village safer and create dialogue between people. Provide a 6/25/2016 1:43 PM sfae environment for our children i.e stop them playing in the street where they are in danger

195 The provision of a focal point for events and somewhere for young people to meet 6/25/2016 1:34 PM

196 Been here for 23 years and always said kids in particular have have nowhere to go so it would be wonderful for them 6/25/2016 1:30 PM to have facilities (and the rest of the community too)

197 Would help people to get to know one and other 6/25/2016 1:27 PM

198 Somewhere to meet and chat and feel the village coming together 6/25/2016 1:18 PM

199 Would provide somewhere for people to come together and enjoy without having to travel. Somewhere that is not 6/25/2016 12:50 PM religious but still a focal point for the community

200 Bringing the community together and being a focal point for the village 6/25/2016 12:42 PM

201 Stronger and more socialable community. 6/24/2016 2:44 PM

202 None 6/23/2016 5:18 PM

203 None monies would be better spent on care home facilities 6/23/2016 5:14 PM

204 to bring people together, new and old from the village 6/23/2016 11:11 AM

205 To create a better community within the village. 6/16/2016 11:24 AM

206 Bring the Community together 5/31/2016 2:41 PM

207 Focus for the village which lacks amenities like Regen Centre in Riccall 5/28/2016 9:29 AM

208 Create more of sense of community in village, help ensure people are less isolated & get all ages groups involved in 5/27/2016 1:45 PM village life

209 Hopefully it will benefit the village as a whole and bring the residents together instead of being divided 5/26/2016 10:01 PM

210 Bring the residence together and provide facilities for the young and elderly 5/26/2016 9:38 PM

211 Opportunities for villagers of all ages to get involved in social and fitness activities 5/26/2016 9:02 PM

212 Bring residents together who share the same interests, or want to become involved in or try new thigs & also bring the 5/26/2016 8:24 PM community together for social events,

213 Community centres onlty provide benefits for a small proportion of the Village...why not use existing facilities like the 5/26/2016 7:05 PM Bowling Club

214 I would pull the village together and be a place for everyone to use and be proud of 5/26/2016 6:27 PM

11 / 38 42 Hall for Hemingbrough Community Consultation

215 It would give the village an important community space. At the moment, other venues in the village cannot 5/26/2016 4:36 PM accomodate the numbers needed to provide an inclusive space for all villagers. The village I previously lived in had a fantastic community centre and it was a vital asset in helping to bring all sections of the community together.

216 It would fetch us all together as a community 5/26/2016 4:29 PM

217 Somewhere for the future and current generations to all have somewhere to go and be. We have a lot of sports team 5/26/2016 3:48 PM within the village and nowhere to all go have to go out the village

218 should allow residents to pursue a variety of interests and hobbies etc. without driving elsewhere 5/18/2016 4:01 PM

219 A beneficial facility for a wide range of uses, but only if it is done properly with a well thought out internal layout. 5/16/2016 2:33 PM

220 Hopefully help to bring the community together 5/16/2016 11:14 AM

221 It will bring people together and enhamce our community spirit. 5/13/2016 3:31 PM

226 A more cohesive village community 5/12/2016 1:00 PM

227 A real Feel of community life & social intercourse 5/12/2016 10:26 AM

228 Most important is a youth centre as the teens do not have a place to go and there is no transport links for them. It 5/12/2016 10:03 AM would help end some of the trouble they have been causing.

229 ability to meet people, activities for families 5/11/2016 9:59 PM

230 Giving people a place to meet 5/11/2016 5:53 PM

231 Provide a much needed central focus for everyone . 5/11/2016 10:20 AM

232 A central meeting place for all age groups in the village 5/11/2016 10:12 AM

233 The benefits of a Community Centre would be immense for the Community, People wouldn't have to travel to use 5/11/2016 7:47 AM facilities they would have them on their doorstep. The young teenagers in the village need something to do so a youth club would be brilliant for them.

234 It would have a massive benefit for all sections of the community. The elderly need a centre where they can meet, 5/10/2016 2:02 PM enjoy social activities and a centre for sharing meals with others. The young need somewhere safe and well supervised where they can participate in the various activities a centre would bring. The same thing applies to teenagers where outdoor all weather surface games areas would encourage more fitness for, not only them but all age groups. Hemingbrough and the surrounding villages of Cliffe, and South Duffield have a very limited bus service and having a community centre would have a massive social and economic benefit.

235 Unite the community, focal point of village activities 5/10/2016 9:37 AM

236 It is something that would benefit everyone. 5/9/2016 8:19 PM

237 It will bring all ages together making a strong community spirit 5/9/2016 7:16 PM

242 a place of interest and activity for the village 5/9/2016 9:37 AM

245 It would bring the, 5/8/2016 2:03 PM

246 Bringing community together instead of going to other facilities in other places 5/8/2016 12:48 PM

12 / 38 43 Hall for Hemingbrough Community Consultation

247 it will be agraet asset for the growing village 5/8/2016 12:32 PM

248 It would bring people and groups together 5/8/2016 12:30 PM

249 Being able to get to know more people in the village. 5/7/2016 7:20 PM

250 Closer ties within the community 5/7/2016 6:34 PM

251 organizing events 5/7/2016 6:12 PM

252 It would bring the community together more, especially those who are out at work all day. It could also be a focus for 5/7/2016 5:58 PM young people who just seem to hang about the streets at the moment.

253 it would give a much need venue for children's parties. maybean opputunity for groups like scouts/brownies. possible 5/7/2016 5:53 PM venue for charity events. a place to socializeother thana pub.

254 It would hopefully bring the comunity together young and old 5/7/2016 5:41 PM

258 improving social facilities 5/6/2016 4:31 PM

259 It will i feel bring all the residents closer and get to know each other better 5/6/2016 10:50 AM

260 If more activities/facilities are available to the residents of Hemingbrough then I think people will get involved and 5/6/2016 9:32 AM hopefully will bring the community closer together

261 Local facilities for village 5/6/2016 7:50 AM

262 Improve community spirit. Meet new people. 5/5/2016 11:28 AM

263 Somewhere for social gatherings and events etc 5/4/2016 7:46 PM

264 The key benefits are keeping the activities people want to undertake within the village, a vast proportion of the 5/3/2016 3:59 PM villagers have to go to other villages to pursue activities. The village is absolutely huge and building on every available prince of land regardless of the fact it is postage stamp size and therefore the needs are ever expanding. Please consider the surrounding hamlets of babthorpe, south Duffield, Brackenholme and Eooodhall as Hemingbrough is their closest 'big' village providing let amenities.

265 It would bring neighbours together and help new mums connect. 5/1/2016 5:50 PM

266 a place for children to play safetly. for young teenagers and young adults to go. a community space. a fantastic idea 5/1/2016 12:27 AM

267 It would provide a great space for people to come together and create community spirit 4/30/2016 6:45 PM

268 It brings the community together, helps with isolation and reduces loneliness. Young people need places to gather and 4/30/2016 10:16 AM use up excess energy. A good range of activities will result in healthier residents both physically and mentally. There will be many indirect benefits as well, e,g less vandalism or anti social behaviour.

269 will bring everybody closer together as a community. 4/30/2016 7:42 AM

270 Children away from a busy main road 4/30/2016 7:16 AM

271 It's a large growing village, it would bring the village together and also provide somewhere for the kids to do 4/30/2016 7:14 AM something, regular hire of it by outside groups etc would really benefit this growing village

272 More social time 4/30/2016 12:25 AM

273 Focal point for the community while providing a range of activities, events and functions for all age groups. 4/29/2016 9:24 PM

274 Bringing people together 4/29/2016 9:04 PM

275 Become a heart of the village, sense of community 4/29/2016 3:26 PM

276 It would benefit all ages and bring the community together 4/29/2016 2:42 PM

277 It will give residents a focal point for coming together 4/29/2016 2:01 PM

13 / 38 44 Hall for Hemingbrough Community Consultation

278 None. It would be an expensive lengthy process which would not give anything more than the buildings we already 4/29/2016 11:54 AM have. The time and money would be much better spent improving the play area and sports field facilities we already have. Just imagine a brilliant play area or perhaps a soft tarmac area to the right of it that could be used for parking when Bowls or Cricket is on and used for skateboards and skooters when it is not. The kids NEED a place to go and play, there is nothing for them in this village.

279 Be great to have more activities and events on our doorstep 4/29/2016 11:53 AM

280 It would be lovely for the children of harmingbrough to have somewhere to go for thing like Cubs , scouts , brownies , 4/29/2016 10:42 AM girl guides, youth club etc , somewhere to hire for frunctions etc

281 I feel it would benefit the younger generations...giving them something to do rather than roam the streets 4/29/2016 8:38 AM

282 There are so many things going on in the village and it would be fantastic to see the community come together and 4/29/2016 8:20 AM achieve more.

283 Everything!! It would be the heart of the village. It's just what our village is missing to make it perfect 4/29/2016 8:19 AM

284 I don't, I feel that the money would be better spent on improving the playground on the field to a wooden large 4/29/2016 8:12 AM structure with slides, swings, climbing, tunnels etc. We have facilities such as The Crown, Methodist Church Hall.

285 It would reduce the need for travelling to other towns to such facilities (carbon footprint ). It would help the community 4/29/2016 8:03 AM be more cohesive. Local access to fitness facilities would promote good health. potentially it could aid in the reduction of crime by being a facility for younger people too.

286 Having a young teenager with lots of friends who live in and around Hemingbrough they often lack somewhere to 4/29/2016 7:50 AM 'hang out'. Many times do they come to my house or go to my son's dads to be safe, warm, listen to music, play games etc but when there's alot space isnt always on our side. Some years ago I along with fellow friends/parents tried to locate a site to set up a venue. Having some sports facilities for young and old would be beneficial as not everyone can travel as limited public services in the village.

287 It would provide adequate facilities to cater for the growing size of the village and community. 4/29/2016 7:35 AM

288 More events locally, better relationships in community and community spirit. More opportunities for the children and 4/29/2016 7:14 AM young people

289 Providing a facility for young people and also for events/hire 4/29/2016 7:11 AM

290 Great potential for community events. 4/29/2016 6:35 AM

291 The list is endless! For a village this size and no community facility is wrong. I am chair for the schl Pta, fan club and 4/29/2016 5:35 AM we very much look forward to having a venue available to hire for events for children and adults.

292 The children definitely need something to go to as they get older and would be nice to have some activities for us 4/29/2016 2:13 AM oldies too! At the moment there is nothing

293 Options for more social events in the village = strengthens community spirit 4/29/2016 12:08 AM

294 Teens especially need a place to go and activities to occupy them. So many of us take our children to activities outside 4/28/2016 11:11 PM of the village, it would be lovely to have a local community hub for everyone to enjoy

295 Bring it together, give the older children something to do. Plus something for everyone. Inclusion for all 4/28/2016 11:05 PM

296 It would enable the village to feel like more of an inclusive community. At the moment, many of us travel to 4/28/2016 10:55 PM neighbouring villages for many activities (brownies, beavers, fitness classes, birthday party venues, out for a coffee with friends etc, and a functional community centre in our village would change this. Producing a village community feel.

297 This village is really lacking a central focal place for events and functions. A community hall would be the perfect place 4/28/2016 10:53 PM to carry out such things.

298 Fitness 4/28/2016 10:46 PM

299 More opportunities for sporting activities and young people in the village 4/28/2016 10:31 PM

300 It would give all the kids in the village somewhere to go instead of hanging round park on a night time causing a 4/28/2016 10:27 PM nuisance.it would also be a very valuable asset to our community, especially if it offered training corse due to the lack of reliable transport into town.

301 It would bring the village together, give the kids something to do, keep them off the streets, exercise classes would be 4/28/2016 10:22 PM great. It's a massive village and only getting bigger, we need somewhere like the regen centre in Riccallthat could serve this village and bring those in from the surrounding villages as well.. Much needed and well overdue. Good luck !!

14 / 38 45 Hall for Hemingbrough Community Consultation

302 Hemingbrough is a large village, it has outgrown the facilities. There is nothing for teenagers to do. It would be good to 4/28/2016 10:15 PM have a bigger hall for use by the villagers. It would help to bring the community together.

303 bringing together the community. We have a lot of people that live here without the facilities that other villages enjoy 4/28/2016 10:11 PM such as Riccall and Bubwith

304 non, I think promoting existing facilities in the village would benefit the community more. 4/28/2016 9:44 PM

305 Building a stronger community spirited neighbourhood 4/28/2016 9:32 PM

306 Strengthen community ties 4/28/2016 9:08 PM

307 Not only would it bring the community together, but it would put hemingbrough on the map 4/28/2016 8:18 PM

308 Having a venue which could be used by all would create greater integration 4/28/2016 8:08 PM

309 it would bring the community together - all age groups ! 4/28/2016 8:06 PM

310 There would be fewer youths roaming the village at night which makes some older residents anxious 4/28/2016 7:07 PM

311 Community spirit. A focal point for the village. 4/28/2016 4:42 PM

312 Bring our community together giving a positive future for Hemingbrough 4/28/2016 3:53 PM
