History The first Nordstrom Rack opened in the lower level of the downtown Seattle Nordstrom store in 1975 as a clearance center for Full-Line Store merchandise. As Nordstrom expanded to other parts of the country, Nordstrom Rack stores followed. There are currently 56 Nordstrom Rack stores in 20 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington.

Merchandise Resources As a division of Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack stores have the opportunity to purchase merchandise from the same vendors that are carried in the full-line stores. Because of the long-standing relationship Nordstrom has with many national , Nordstrom Rack can offer special items from these brands at exceptional prices. Customers can also find overstock items and end-of-season merchandise from many of the same vendors carried in Nordstrom stores. Additionally, Nordstrom Rack offers clearance merchandise transferred from Nordstrom full-line stores.
