USA TRAVEL SHOW 2019 Welcome by

Karin Gert Nielsen CEO, Atlantic Link and Managing Director, Discover America

Dear friends and colleagues,

A warm welcome to all of you to the annual USA Travel Show, the only and largest USA Travel Show for the travel industry in Scandinavia.

We have the honor of welcoming the U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, Ms. Carla Sands, who will officially declare the show open.

I also want to extend a very warm welcome to the President and CEO from U.S. Travel Association, Mr. Roger Dow, who will be visiting for the first time, as well as Ms. Anne Madison, Chief Strategy and Communications Officer for Brand USA, the nation’s destination marketing organization with the mission of increasing international visitation to the United States.

USA is the leading long-haul destination for Scandinavian travelers with almost 1.5 million visitors. The figures for 2018 show us that the interest and demand continue in terms of visitation but also in terms of connectivity. We see an increase in direct flights to the States, both from our capital cities but also from local airports.

This is the eighth year in a row that we are organizing this event. Every year, we are trying to raise the bar to meet your expectations.

We listen carefully to your feedback, and this year is no exception. We have expanded the show to a full day program, including a Business Forum – “The Transformative Powers of Tourism - global views on how tourism is changing the world” for industry executives from the U.S. and Scandinavia, including Key Note speakers from U.S. Travel Association and Brand USA.

On behalf of Discover America, we thank you for your support and look forward to an exciting day.

Karin Gert Nielsen CEO, Atlantic Link and Managing Director, Discover America

1 Welcome by

Roger J. Dow President & CEO, U.S. Travel Association

Dear friends and colleagues of the Nordic region,

I am so excited to be here with you all at the USA Travel Show. This marks my first visit to Denmark, and I can’t wait to experience a part of the beautiful Scan- dinavian region.

Representing all components of America’s travel industry, U.S. Travel Association works to grow travel to and within the United States by advancing policy that enhances the travel experience, improves efficiency, bolsters security and better connects America to the world. Through signature events, we unite our industry with each other - and with our colleagues from across the globe.

Alongside Brand USA, we look forward to welcoming the world to IPW, June 1-5, in Anaheim, California. Over the course of five days, more than 6,000 buyers, suppliers and media from over 70 countries will conduct business and strength- en professional relationships, generating $4.7 billion in future travel to the U.S.

Visit Anaheim, Visit California and their regional partners are busy preparing to provide you a truly memorable experience, fully immersed in the California lifestyle. Anaheim - a city fueled by non-stop reinvention - is ready to share the new sights, sounds and flavors since IPW was last held there in 2007. From opening night at the Disneyland Resort® to the closing festivities at Knott’s Berry Farm - prepare to be surprised and transformed.

As the leading long-haul destination for Scandinavian travelers, America hopes to continue to captivate your interest as you explore all we have to offer.

On behalf of U.S. Travel Association, thank you to our partners at Discover America and across the Nordic region - we are truly appreciative for all you do for travel and hope to see many of you again at IPW in Anaheim, California in June.

Roger J. Dow President & CEO, U.S. Travel Association

2 Welcome by

Anne Madison Chief Strategy & Communications Officer, Brand USA

Dear friends, colleagues and partners,

On behalf of Brand USA, the destination marketing organization for the United States, welcome to the USA Travel Show.

I am excited to join you here in to share some of the many ways we are inspiring travelers to visit the USA. Brand USA has the privilege of being singularly focused on marketing the USA as the world’s premier international travel destination – and we are as confident and energized as ever to promote travel from Scandinavia to the United States.

Our friends at Discover America Denmark continue to excel in their mission by producing the most prominent business-to-business workshop in Scandinavia dedicated to USA travel for travel-trade professionals and media representa- tives. Last year’s USA Travel Show featured a record-setting 57 exhibitors rep- resenting a wide array of destinations in the USA, with over 250 travel trade and media from Scandinavia. This year promises to demonstrate continued growth and success, and I am particularly excited to join Carla Sands, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, for the opening of this year’s show.

The USA remains the leading long-haul destination for Scandinavian travelers, who continually tell us that they are drawn to the USA because of the vast range and diversity of our destinations and experiences, as well as the people of the United States who love to welcome travelers throughout the world.

Together, we are marketing the USA!

Anne Madison Chief Strategy and Communications Officer, Brand USA
