JANASANYOG, ASSAM CHIEF MINISTER’S PUBLIC RELATIONS CELL, DISPUR PRESS RELEASE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Press Release No. 192/2020 Sonowal dials his counterparts of Jharkhand, Chhatishgarh, Goa and Delhi Requests help for safekeeping of stranded people of Assam Dispur, April 20: In view of the ongoing nation-wide lockdown put in place to fight the COVID 19 pandemic, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today called his counterparts of Jharkhand, Goa and Delhi, where several people of Assam got stranded and requested them to take adequate steps for their “safekeeping”. Chief Minister Sonowal dialled Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemanta Soren, Chhattishgarh Chief Minister Bhubesh Baghel, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal to request them for taking adequate steps like providing accommodation, food and social security to several people of Assam stranded in their respective states. He also informed them that the people of Assam who went to Delhi, Goa and Jharkhand for academic, treatment, business, job and tourism purpose got stranded in the coronavirus induced lockdown. During the telephonic interaction, Sonowal informed his counterparts that the State government took several initiatives for the safekeeping of the people of other states who got stranded in Assam. They also discussed on the steps that their respective State governments took for the relief and respite of the people affected by COVID 19. Sonowal also told them that his government has already sent request letters to the states, requesting each government to render help to the people of Assam. SD/ April 20, 2020. .

-1- THE GOA STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2021 (Bill No. 8 of 2021) A BILL further to amend the Goa Staff Selection Commission Act, 2019 (Goa Act 11 of 2019) BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Goa in the Seventy second Year of the Republic of India as follows: – 1. Short title and commencement.– (1) This Act may be called the Goa Staff Selection Commission (Amendment) Act, 2021. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of section 7.– In section 7 of the Goa Staff Selection Commission Act, 2019 (Goa Act 11 of 2019), after sub-section (7), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely: – “(8) Notwithstanding anything contained in this section, the Government Departments may, after obtaining prior approval from the Department of Personnel of the Government, conduct examinations for selecting candidates for appointment to sub-ordinate services/posts for a period of two years from the date of commencement of the Goa Staff Selection Commission (Amendment) Act, 2021.”. -2- STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS The Government has established Goa Staff Selection Commission and framed the Goa Staff Selection Commission Rules, 2020. However, the work of finalizing the regulations is under process. The Government had banned recruitment in Government Departments since 2016 and the Government had deferred recruitment up to November, 2020, which has led to large scale vacancies in Government Departments. Therefore, there is a need to fill up the vacant posts on priority to strengthen the administrative machinery. Considering the time required for finalizing the regulations, putting in place the required infrastructure for Staff Selection Commission and the requirement of sending the staff associated with the Commission for training in conducting mass scale recruitment, use of latest technology for transparent examination process among other similar initiatives, the recruitment through Staff Selection Commission will require some time.

This visit came as a fulfillment of the assurance of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Russian President, Vladimir Putin during their meeting in Bishkek earlier this year on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, to explore opportunities for enhancing trade and investment from India to the Far East region of Russia. About 200 Russian companies, Investment Agencies and Funds took part from the Russian side. Companies interacted separately with identified partners in an expanded B2B format and established contacts for further deliberations. The companies belonged to a wide cross-section of priority sectors, including minerals and rare earth, energy, forestry and timber, healthcare, agriculture and food processing, ceramics, tourism and infrastructure. The event was the result of collaboration between Invest India and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry on the Indian side, and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic under the leadership of Alexander Kozlov and the Far East Investment and Export Promotion Agency on the Russian side. On August 12, 2019, the companies showcased in different sessions the prospects of mutual collaboration in the promising sectors through presentations. ISLAMOPHOBIA IN INDIA DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS: A SURGE OF STIGMATIZATION, VILIFICATION AND MURDER Thameem Ushama1 Abstract This article discusses how zealots exploit the COVID-19 pandemic to amplify Islamophobia in India. Qualitative content analysis of publications, speeches, websites, news bulletins, periodicals, YouTube and social media reveals a surge of anti-Muslim rhetoric and activity. It highlights deliberate misinformation by campaigns and outrages. These include blaming Muslims for the contagion, denying them medical treatment, official justification by doctors to murder Muslim corona patients, and the vandalization, boycott and destruction of Muslim homes, stalls and shops — all under cover of the COVID-19 lockdown.
