MEMBER BIO JANICE REARICK

Janice in her Searey

Janice Rearick was an Army ROTC student when she was offered the opportunity to take the FAST test (Flight Aptitude Test Battery) for those university cadets interested in flying. When the results revealed positive news, she set her sights on the sky. Janice became a Rotary Wing aviator, and flew three years on active duty, stationed in Europe. She qualified in three military aircraft: the UH1 Huey, the OH58 Kiowa and the EH1 CEWI helicopters.

More recently, in the world of general aviation, Janice has flown and owned an amphibious experimental Aventura and Searey airplane. She counts her hours of flying over the lakes and shorelines of Florida as some of the most exhilarating and inspiring moments in the air. After making Sebring her home, in 2013, Janice joined the volunteer ranks of the annual International Sport Aviation Expo, held here every January. She has served as Leader and Volunteer Coordinator encouraging volunteer teams and welcoming the many thousands of guests who attend this exciting aviation event in our own back yard!

It was through a telephone call in the Fall of 2015 to recruit a new Expo volunteer, that Janice met Ginger Adelstone. After 45 minutes of sharing their mutual passions in aviation, Ginger was enrolled for the Expo and Janice was enrolled in the 99s!

A charter member of the Heartland Florida 99s, Janice has served as chapter Secretary, and recently selected to serve our chapter as Vice Chairman.

Janice hopes to follow the inspiring example set by experienced 99s. It is her wish to help make the Heartland Florida 99s an engine of encouragement and outreach to raise up the next generation of women aviators, of all ages, in our region - and beyond!
