1. General a. Rule Changes i. The ESA Admins, as well as Owners and other Assigned Staff (“ESA” or “The ESA”) reserve the right to amend, remove, or otherwise change the rules outlined in the ESports Association Rainbow Six Rulebook (“Rulebook”), without further notice. The ESA also reserves the right to pass judgment on cases that are not specifically supported or detailed in this Rulebook. ESA may choose in its sole and absolute discretion to make judgments that even go against this Rulebook in the interests of fair play and sportsmanship.

b. Validity of Rules/Severability Clause i. If any provision of the Rulebook shall be invalid or impracticable either in whole or in part, such a provision will not affect the validity of the remaining parts of this Rulebook. The ESA shall apply the intent of the rule in light of the meaning and purpose of the Rulebook as a holistic whole as well as preserving the interests of fair play, competition, and sportsmanship..

c. Code of Conduct i. All Teams and Players agree to behave in an appropriate and respectful manner towards other Teams and Players, spectators, the broadcast team, the ESA Staff, and the ESA Administration. Any sort of harassment should be reported to the ESA administrators immediately. Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive and disparaging statements, pictures, emojis, voice calls, or other communications. ii. Additionally, Harassment and Offensive Behavior (see infra.§ 2(a)) can include hateful, punitive, or retaliatory actions related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, alienage, or national origin as well as any other material deemed inappropriate by the Administrators. iii. Harassment may also include posting sexually explicit images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, propositions for sex or sexual favors or acts, doxxing or posting Personally Identifying Information (“PII”) even if the PII is a matter of public record, continued and consistent spamming, or any other sufficiently . iv. Similar restrictions apply not only to the Teams and Players, but every single person involved with or present at a stage of ESA. Anyone breaking this code of conduct may be punished at the discretion of the League Administrators, Owners, or other superiors as necessary. .

2. Player Conduct a. Offensive Behavior i. Offensive Behavior of any kind is not allowed. This can include racism, insults, threats, sexual harassment, stalking, and anything else that is deemed offensive by the Administrators. See also Harassment, supra § (1)(c). ii. Offensive behavior can be punished by whatever the Administrators deem necessary for the situation; this could be a player ban or even team ban.

b. Spam i. Sending messages to the point of annoyance, whether in game or out of game, is considered spam. ii. Spamming will result in a warning, and continued spamming after a warning has ban giving could result in a ban.

c. Names and Logos i. Teams or specific players may be asked to change their name or logo if it is deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Administrators. ii. If a team or player does not comply with the request to change their name or logo they may be disqualified from the league. iii. Teams may not have the same name unless they are with the same organization. If a team joins with the name of another team already in the ESA, that new team will be denied their name, unless the new team owns the rights to the name.

d. Sponsors/Partnerships i. If a team or player has a sponsorship or partnership that is deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Administrators the team will either have to drop the sponsor or partnership or be forced to leave the league until they no longer have the sponsorship/partnership in question.

e. Rules Disputes i. It is expected that players immediately flag any rule disputes to a League Admin. Failure to do so can result in waiving the dispute and leaving no remedy. (The equitable defense of laches.) ii. A team or player cannot claim relief or remedies for an opposing team engaging in a particular illegal activity when the complaining team is in turn engaging in that same activity. (The equitable defense of unclean hands also applies.)

3. League Guidelines a. Administrators i. Administrators have final say in all decisions made. ii. Administrators reserve the right to implement local rules or temporary rules patches as necessary to promote the interests of fair play and competition. iii. Administrators may grant special dispensation for teams to play in violation of rules so long as both teams are in agreement with said exclusion (e.g. rescheduled matches, operator bans, etc) and it in turn promotes the interest of fair play and competition. b. Multiple Penalties: i. Penalties involving round or match forfeits are cumulative. For example, if two separate infringements each individually call for a round forfeit, the total penalty assessed against the infringing team shall be two rounds forfeited. c. Region Placement i. A player must be physically present in the region designated below in order to compete in that region’s leagues and events. 1. “North America”: Any country on the North American Continent including their close ranging islands, as well as the Caribbean Islands and Hawaiian Islands. 2. “EU”: Any country or portion of a country traditionally defined as Europe. The traditional boundaries of Europe comprise all countries or portions of countries on the Eurasian Landmass and its associated close ranging islands West of the Ural Mountains and including the Kazakh regions of the Western Kazakh Region and the Atyrau Region, West of the Bosphorus Strait but including the remainder of the metropolitan area of Istanbul, Turkey, North of the Strait of Gibraltar, and North of the Caucasus Mountains at the border of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Iceland is also included in the EU region.

d. Matches i. Match Series Format 1. Champion Series, Contender Series, and Rival Series matches are played in a best of three map format except for the playoff finals which are played in a best of five map format. 2. Tournament Series matches are played in a best of one map format. 3. Qualifiers and Relegation matches are played in a best of one format. ii. All matches will be played on the Default Server as enumerated below unless both teams agree to play on a different server region. If the teams

1. All operators can be used during a match excluding operators banned due to operator quarantine or temporarily banned by ESA. 2. All new operators released are guaranteed for the season they are released and are thus banned from us in all matches. a. Current operators in quarantine include Ace and Melusi. vi. Cosmetic Items 1. All skins are banned other than the Default Skins, Pro League skins, and Pilot Program Team skins. 2. The use of any prohibited cosmetic items will result in a forfeit of any round played with them by the team that used the prohibited items. 3. Continued use of prohibited cosmetic items may result in a forfeit of a match, or disqualification from a league or event. e. Roster i. A team's roster is made up of between five to eight players. ii. Every player's in-game uplay name must be the same as their uplay name on their roster. 1. If someone changes their in game uplay name message an Administrators to have it fixed on their roster. 2. If a team is found to be playing with a player not rostered they may be forced to forfeit the match the player in question was found to be playing in, or the team may be disqualified from the league. 3. Players may not add the name of an alt as two separate names. They must choose one account to play on or it will count as a roster change. iii. Players may only be on one team 1. If a player is found to be on multiple teams they will be forced to leave their teams until they are only on one. iv. Roster Changes 1. During the regular season teams are allowed to add one player in between rounds. The period in between rounds is defined as starting AFTER the team’s match until 12:00 AM Central Time the day of their next match. . 2. There is no limit to the amount of players that can be removed from a team. 3. Players can not be added to a team's roster once the playoffs begin. 4. A player can play immediately after being added onto a team's roster. 5. If a player leaves a team they may not join another team until at least one round has passed. 6. Teams MUST keep at least 3 members of their original roster or else the team will forfeit its entry in the league to another team. . v. Teams must play with 5 players in every match. Under no circumstances may a team play with four members, even under mutual agreement with another team.

f. Forfeits i. Any player may forfeit a match on behalf of his team. ii. If anyone on a team says that the team forfeits, the team irrevocably forfeits despite any later attempts to revoke it. iii. Teams may only forfeit once during the regular season. A second forfeiture will result in disqualification from the league for the remainder of the season. Exceptions may be given on a case by case basis (e.g. emergency situation or circumstances beyond the team’s reasonable and foreseeable control). g. Streaming i. Matches will be streamed to the ESA official twitch channel. ​ ​ ii. Streaming on your own is not advised, but it is permitted. We strongly recommend a high delay (of at least 180 seconds) on the stream. Stream at your own risk for as bans against stream sniping are difficult to enforce. By streaming yourself, you agree to accept and bear all risks of stream sniping. 1. ESA is NOT responsible for any issues regarding stream sniping that arise from private streams of games. h. Entry Fees i. If any entry fees are required teams must have paid the entry fee by the date designated in each specific case or they may be removed from the league or event. ii. Entry fees are paid through PayPal unless another form of paying is approved or designated by ESA. iii. Please be sure to include your team name and series/tournament you are playing in in the payment note. i. Prizes i. All monetary prizes will be paid in U.S. Dollars. ii. Any Prizes awarded to a team for competing in ESA will be paid to the participant within a month, but generally within a week of winning the prize. iii. The Prize will be paid out through PayPal unless another form of payment is designed by the ESA, or asked for by a participant and approved by the ESA. iv. Splitting the Prize 1. Before paying out the Prize Pool, ESA Staff will explicitly delineate the amount of the payouts to each of the teams. 2. If a team chooses to split upon completion of a season, ESA will award the relevant prizes to the individual team members who participated in

the Best of 5 final match in equal shares. Alternative arrangements can be made through mutual consent between ESA and the team members.

j. Player Bans i. If a team is disqualified all players from that team may be banned from playing for the rest of the season.

k. Age Restrictions i. All players in the ESA must be a minimum of 13 years of age. Any players found to be under this age restriction will be immediately banned and that team suspended for the rest of the season.

l. Schedule i. The league schedule is released at the beginning of the season. ESA reserves the right to modify this schedule in its sole and absolute discretion.

4. Pre Game Guidelines a. Start Times ii. Check-in is 20 minutes prior to the match start time. A player from each team must check in by this time. 1. If a team is not checked in and ready to play by the scheduled start time of the match, that team will automatically forfeit that match. a. Ready to play is defined as having all five players present in game and prepared to accept match lobby invites.

b. In the event of technical difficulties, the match will be postponed at the discretion of the admins. 2. To check-in simply make it known that you are ready for bans in your chat. 3. Map bans begin at the check in time.

b. Re-Schedules i. Once the schedule for the season is released, if teams need any matches rescheduled they must notify the admins by the start of the first round of the season. 1. Admins will work to reschedule the match to a different time or day, but there is no guarantee that the match will be rescheduled. ii. Once the season begins no matches may be rescheduled. 1. Matches may only be rescheduled through special dispensation granted by the Admins..

c. Map Bans i. Prior to matches teams must ban maps in the 20 minute period before the match. ii. Map bans will be done using the ESA Bot or by an admin in the event of the Bot malfunctioning. iii. Map Ban Process 1. In a Bo1 match, each team will ban 3 maps one after another until one map remains to be played. The team that banned first will pick a side on the map. The team that banned second will pick a side for the possible overtime. 2. In a Bo2 match, each Team will ban a map until three maps are left. Of ​ the remaining three maps the team that banned first will pick a map to play. The team that banned second will pick the second map to play of the remaining two maps. Each team will pick the side on the map they did not choose, and will pick the overtime side on the map they did choose. 3. In a Bo3 match, both teams will ban a map, then pick their map to be played, then ban a map leaving the decider map. Each team will pick the side on the map they did not choose, and the overtime map on the side they did choose. The team to ban first will pick the side on the decider. 4. In a Bo5 match, each team will ban a map leaving 5 maps to be played. Each team will pick two maps one after another to be played leaving one map as the decider map. Each team will pick a side on the map they did not choose. The team that banned first will pick the side on the decider map, and the team that banned second will pick the overtime side. 5. Who bans first is decided by a coin flip done automatically by the ESA Bot. If the Bot malfunctions, then an admin will perform a coin flip to determine the banning order.

5. In Game Guidelines a. Rehosts i. Each team is allowed two re-hosts per map, if more are needed the player will have to reconnect themselves and rounds will not be replayed. ii. A team has five minutes to rehost. If both teams declare themselves ready before this five minute limit (confirmed in text chat) then the match may continue before with mutual consent. iii. A team may use these five minutes to quickly use the bathroom or refill water bottles, for example. However, any penalties for tardiness or excessive dilatoriness can result in round or match forfeits at the discretion of the ESA administrator iv. In the event of a game bug, rehosts may be called without teams needing to use their own two rehosts or additional penalty.

b. Player Connection i. Players are responsible for their own connections. ii. Max ping is 110 milliseconds. 1. This is near constant ping and not just a spike. To be classified as a constant high ping the player's ping must stay about 110 ms for 10 seconds, on three separate occasions. 2. If a player's ping is over the limit and upon a timely protest and notice, the lobby will be rehosted. This will use up one of a team’s rehosts. . 3. Teams must report a player with the high ping as soon as it is detected.or waiting till the end of the match may not result in a replay of the match. iii. In the event of continued and persistent connection issues that are not resolved with a rehost, a team may substitute another player currently on its roster in between rounds of a map. See § 5(d) for additional substitution rules. c. Player Drops i. If a player drops during a match and cannot rejoin by the next round the game will be rehosted. This would also use one rehost as listed above. ii. If a player drops during the round the round will be replayed if the action phase has not started. If the action phase has started the round will be played out. If a player drops during the prep phase the round will be replayed.

d. In Between Maps i. Player Changes/Substitutions 1. Teams may change out players in between maps. 2. Teams may not change out players in between rounds of a map unless allowed under § 5(b)(iii) ii. Teams are allowed up to 5 minutes in between maps to take a break and change out any players as needed. iii. As with rehosts stated above, penalties for tardiness or excessive dilatoriness can result in round or match forfeits at the discretion of the ESA administrator. e. Game Bugs i. If any bug occurs at any time throughout a round the match will be rehosted and the round will be replayed as if the round had never happened. If the bug happens on Round 6, the host will refill in match history until Round 5 and Round 6 will be replayed.

ii. There is no limit to the amount of rehosts due to game bugs. See § 5(a)(iv).

f. Game Chat i. In game chat should be used to report and fix any minor issues during a match, if there are any major issues discord will be used to report and fix the issue. ii. Any potential offensive or inappropriate comment that goes against the ESA’s general code of conduct, will be looked at by Administrators and may result in a team being forced to forfeit the match in question.

g. Unsportsmanlike Behavior i. Any unsportsmanlike behavior may be punishable by a players or teams suspension per the Code of Conduct (see § 1(c)).. 1. Types of unsportsmanlike behavior: a. Racism b. Threats c. Severe insults d. Sexual harassment e. Remarks on one's sexual orientation with malicious intent f. Stream sniping (if proven) 2. Any and all actions that violate the ESA’s Code of Conduct. 3. Any and all actions that violate Ubisoft’s Code of Conduct.

6. Post Game Guidelines a. Reporting Scores i. After each map is completed teams are required to take screenshots of the final scoreboard. ii. Once the final map is completed teams must turn in each map scoreboard screenshot in the designated discord channel.

b. Anti Cheat Turn In i. After a match is completed every participating player must turn in their MOSS anti cheat file. ii. Players will have 30 minutes after the completion of a match to turn in their MOSS files. Turning MOSS in late may result in a warning for the player and/or the team. iii. MOSS anti cheat files will be turned into each team's designated MOSS turn in channel in discord. 1. If a player's MOSS file is too large to turn in over discord the MOSS files must be uploaded to google drive and the access link submitted to the teams MOSS chat.

iv. If any participant refuses to turn in their MOSS anti cheat files the team will be forced to forfeit the match. If the losing team also fails to turn in their ​ MOSS files, additional penalties such as forfeited future games or rounds, or warnings, may be assessed against the non-complying team.

7. Cheating a. Statement of Rules Intent i. It is the unequivocal intent of these rules to maintain both the competitive integrity and spirit of fair competition in all ESA competitions. Attempts to subvert this will result in punishment such as, but not limited to, suspensions, disqualifications, round forfeits, or outright league bans on an individual or team level.

b. Use of Cheating Software and Macros i. The use of any cheating software and/or macros is strictly forbidden. ii. The use of any type of cheating software will result in an immediate and permanent ban from all the ESA tournaments. iii. Pretending to hack, or trying to make people believe you use hacks may result in a suspension or ban from the league. iv. If a player has been banned by ESL for the use of cheats and/or macros, that player will not be allowed to participate in any the ESA tournaments for the remainder of their ESL ban. v. If a player has been banned by Battleye or FairFight Jr., the team that player is on will forfeit all of the wins that they had received that that player had played in and the banned player permanently banned from the ESA. 1. This rule is subject to change at the discretion of the Admins..

c. Banned Programs i. Any programs that are used to give players an unfair advantage over their opponents are forbidden. ii. Any form of remote desktop applications are prohibited to have running during any matches. If a remote desktop application is found to be running during a match the team may be forced to forfeit the match in questions, with more actions being taken if needed. 1. Remote desktop applications included but are not limited to: a. TeamViewer b. LogMeIn c. TightVNC d. Player Windows Remote Desktop Connection e. UltraVNC f. CrossLoop

MOSS is required by all participants as an anti cheat. ii. Any tampering with a player's anti cheat is prohibited. e. Glitches i. Unintentional Glitches 1. If a glitch is unintentionally used during a round, and the team that used the glitch won the round, the round will be replayed immediately, whether or not the glitch impacted the round. a. A glitch is used unintentionally when: it is either the first time the glitch was discovered, OR the player accidentally triggered the glitch in the normal course of gameplay. ii. Intentional Glitches 1. If any glitch is intentionally used during a game the team that used the glitch will be forced to forfeit the map. 2. If a team intentionally uses a glitch and loses the map, they will be given a strike 3. Known Glitches include but are not limited to. a. Shield vault glitch b. Shield and Castle barricade glitch c. Shooting through the concrete meeting hall floor on the map Oregon. d. Glitching into objects, like stairs, etc. e. Balcony glitches f. Any other glitch that has been prohibited from use by local and more recent tournament specific rule sets, as well as through any other announcement from League Admins. f. Probation i. If and when a player is disqualified, after their disqualified period has elapsed the player will be placed on probation.

ii. If a player disqualification period is terminated early they will also be placed on probation. iii. While on probation the player is watched extremely carefully and is under increased strictness in rules. iv. Probation can be assigned for any given amount of time, but is generally the length of the original disqualification time. g. Reporting i. Report any issues to an Administrators through DM’s ii. Screenshots are required as proof of any reported event. iii. Requesting an opponent's MOSS is not allowed unless the following procedure is followed 1. If a team acts or plays in a manner inconsistent with the normal course of gameplay or otherwise acts suspiciously during a match, the other team may ask to see certain players MOSS files. 2. Only the team that played against the player in question may request to see the players moss files. 3. To request access to the player’s MOSS files, clear and convincing evidence must be presented to justify being granted access. 4. If granted permission to see MOSS files: a. If a team or player is granted permission to look at another player's MOSSmoss they may not share any of the files or images, share images of the files, or post any files or images of the files on social media. b. Externally disclosing a player's or team’s MOSS files may result in the team being forced to forfeit the match in question, with more actions being taken if needed.
