Barboursville and Horton

Horton Vineyards:

n 1993, the first crush at the new Horton Cellars and in 1994 additional acreage came into production I with plantings of Bordeaux, Portuguese and Spanish as well as additional varietals of the Rhone Valley. The national success of these has demonstrated that if the right are planted for the climate of Virginia the results can be stunning. Come along and taste their NEW VINTAGE RELEASE - January 2010 - 2007 .

Barboursville Vineyards:

hrough the years, the has led in establishing the credibility of the Virginia appellation with an T array of vitis vinifera wine varietals, cultivating wines of a European heritage which wholly justify this new terroir. We are conscious of a joyful debt to that cultural and culinary tradition, not merely in cultivation, but in crafting wines of inherent food-friendliness.

Very few leading estates in the world of wine present an array of varietals of this diversity. On the contrary: most estates were created to present the one or two wines dominantly identified with their region or with the market's demand. But this was the region's first estate in modern times, to take seriously the development of European wine varietals, and it fell to Barboursville to prove what the terroir would support. This list, then, is not ambitious, it presents a sustainable and brilliant legacy - of a multi-decade exploration, experimentation, and validation of our Piedmont's own vocation for European wines.
