A 3D Tour Handgun History Dan Lovy
A 3D Tour Handgun History Dan Lovy I have a new toy, a 3D printer. I am amazed at the level of quality compared to its price. I'm printing out robots, cartoon characters and as many Star Trek ship models as I can find. The darn thing is running almost 24/7 and all my shelving is filling up with little plastic objects. First let me state that I am not a gun enthusiast. I own no fire arms and have been to a firing range once in my life. I believe that we have too many and they are too accessible, especially in the U.S. That having been said, I also have a fascination with the technological change that occurred during the industrial revolution. In some ways we are still advancing the technology that was developed in the late 19th and early 20th century. Fire arms, especially handguns, offer a unique window into all this. Advancement did not happen through increased complexity. A modern Glock is not much more complex than a Colt 1911. The number of parts in a pistol has been in the same range for nearly 200 years. Cars on the other hand gained complexity and added system after system. Advancement did not happen through orders of magnitude in performance. A 747 is vastly more capable than the Wright Flyer. One of the basic measures of a pistol is how fast can it shoot a bullet, that parameter has not really changed much, certainly not as much as the top speed of a car. -

Number 14-1 Rule 3.10 NRA Law Enforcement Competitions Production Police Pistol Combat Program Bulletin Topic Semi-Automatic Pistols Approved Sub-Topic Pistols Date 2-14-2014 Revised 8-15-2018 On January 11, 2014 the NRA Board of Directors approved the Law Enforcement Assistance Committee’s recommendation to add a new pistol category called Production Semi-Automatic Pistol to the Stock Duty Gun Division. Rule 3.10 contains the specifications for Production Semi-Automatic Pistols and requires NRA Law Enforcement Competitions to create a list of approved pistols by make and model and post them on the LE Competitions website. On January 9, 2016, the NRA Board of Directors amended PPC 3.10 to provide more sight options. This PPC Program Bulletin contains those semi-automatic pistols approved for use in Production Semi-Automatic Pistol Matches. PPC Bulletin 16.1 lists the approved replacement sights. Models listed mainly include current catalog law enforcement pistols. Competitors or Tournament Directors who feel there are other law enforcement model semi- automatic pistols they feel meet Rule 3.10 specifications may contact Law Enforcement Competitions at [email protected] and request a review of for eligibility. Competitors should remember that since the Production Semi-Automatic specifications are more restrictive than those for Stock Service Semi-Automatic Pistols, so in most cases their Production Semi-Automatic Pistol may also be used in Stock Service Semi-Automatic Matches. NY SAFE Act Frequently Asked Questions
NY SAFE Act Frequently Asked Questions: Below are FAQ intended to help gun owners in New York understand and comply with the NY SAFE Act enacted on January 15, 2013. If your question is not answered here, please continue to check back, as this list will be updated regularly. You can also call the NY Safe Act hotline at 1-855-LAWGUNS 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM for more information. Q: What does this law do? A: The NY SAFE Act is designed to make New York a safer place to live by reducing gun violence through common sense and reasonable reforms. The law respects the right to bear arms and the interest of hunters, sportsmen, and legal owners who use their guns appropriately. The law protects New Yorkers by: Keeping guns out of the hands of convicted felons and potentially dangerous mental health patients. Banning high capacity magazines and assault weapons. Ensuring all gun purchases are subject to a background check. Toughening criminal penalties on those who use illegal guns. Assault Weapons Q: I own a gun that I use for hunting, is it an assault weapon? A: Most guns that are used for hunting are not assault weapons and are not affected by this law. Typical shotguns and hunting rifles are exempt as the law specifies military style assault weapons by design characteristics. For example, any pump, lever, or bolt action shotgun or rifle cannot be an assault weapon. To confirm that your rifle is not an assault weapon and to see common models and characteristics click the links below: Rifles that are NOT classified as assault weapons Rifles that -
