NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE A New Beginning

First, I would like to thank all of you who supported me and the rest of my team. We have a very aggressive agenda planned for the upcoming fraternal year. Our goal is to get participation to increase in every chapter house and we will be doing everything possible to achieve it. Our fraternity is growing, but we are still losing too many members, and I am going to try and find out why. I will be working with each chapter secretary to get the names of all the members who have dropped out over the last two years and try to contact them.

We already have some ideas planned for the website to develop it to be a must see every day, with-up-to-the-minute news about our fraternity. The Board of Trustees, our Editor Greg Sumpter, and our Webmaster George Taylor, have spent countless hours working on this and I thank them all for their efforts.

At our just completed 105th National Convention held in City, hosted by Gamma Lambda, a greater feeling of fraternalism emerged than had been evident. We were able to discuss our differences like Brothers and resolve them in true Phi Delt manner.

I was very disturbed that 3 of our Chapters were not able to attend any of our Convention meetings. Alpha, Lambda, and Zeta Eta weren’t able to be with us this year, hopefully they will be next year.

To all who helped with convention, you have my heartfelt gratitude and thanks. Dan Cole and his team at Gamma Lambda did a wonderful job.

Congratulations to our new Sweetheart Karen Williams from Beta Nu, and to our newest Chapter President of the year Tommy Frazier from Alpha Lambda.

Hopefully, you have met your new Chapter Coordinator already, and have been able to develop your Chapter’s marketing and social plans for the upcoming fraternal year. If you have any problems don’t hesitate to call me.

I am looking forward to a great year, being able to travel to every chapter house at least twice, and meeting as many of my Brothers as possible. Until next month, always looking forward,

Craig Brutout National President 4 PHI DELTA KAPPA MAGAZINE
