RECANATI RESERVE MARSELAN Located in Israel’s Hefer Valley, the Recanati Winery is a showcase facility, equipped with the most innovative technology available today. Owned by Lenny Recanati, a native of Israel with ancestral roots stretching back to Italy, the winery is the fruit of Lenny’s life-long dream to produce truly world-class wines. Chief winemaker is Gil Shatsberg, a graduate of the U.C. Davis wine program. Formerly a winemaker at Israel’s Amphorae and Carmel wineries, Gil brings to Recanati proven expertise in his field, allied to a devotion to artistry and craftsmanship in winemaking.

A single vineyard wine sourced from 2.5 acres of high altitude vineyards at 2000 feet above sea level. The soil is a mix of terra rossa and volcanic soil.

GRAPE VARIETIES 100% Marselan

Marselan , a unique Southern French , is a cross between and . Marselan combines the nobility of Cabernet Sauvignon with the savage of Grenache, to create this “noble savage” wine. Recanati Marselan is the first Israeli wine to use this varietal.

PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES After careful early morning hand harvesting in August 2013, the are de-stemmed and whole berries are crushed. The must undergoes two days of cold maceration at 50°F and then a soft pressing is carried out. The must is then fermented for six days at approximately 77°F. To encourage extraction and aeration the wine is pumped over four times per day. The wine was ransferred to 100% new French oak barrels where it matured for 11 months.

DESCRIPTION Color: Deep ruby Aroma: Complex with an earthy note. Taste: Very full-bodied with a viscous texture. A wine with chocolate nuances, notable for its power, both in acidity and tannins.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS An outstanding accompaniment to grilled red meats, poultry, risottos and mushroom-based dishes. Serve slightly cooler than room temperature.
