September 26th/27th, 2015 Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

St. Monica's Circle

St. Monica's Circle is a prayer and support group for parents whose adult children, age 18 and over, have made poor choices not consistent with their upbring- ing in the Catholic faith. Such choices might in- clude being away from the and the sacra- ments, engaging in substance abuse, or pursuing alternative lifestyles. The group draws its inspira- tion from St. Monica, who prayed for 27 years for her wayward son's conversion. Thanks to her prayers, we know her son as St. Augustine, a Doctor of the Church honored for the great influence his teachings about God have had on our faith.

The first monthly meeting of St. Monica's Circle for 2015-2016 will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 7:00 PM in the Fitzgerald Room of the Trinity Center. Thereafter, meetings will alternate in the same location between Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings on the following schedule:

* Weds., 10/28 at 9:45 AM * Tues., 11/24 at 7:00 PM * Weds., 12/30 at 9:45 AM * Tues., 1/26 at 7:00 PM * Weds., 2/24 at 9:45 AM * Tues., 3/29 at 7:00 PM * Weds., 4/27 at 9:45 AM * Tues., 5/31 at 7:00 PM

Each meeting offers parents a chance to pray for their children and to give and receive support from other parents facing similar situations. Grandparents are also welcome. For more information, contact Suzanne Kuhn at 215-355-5846 or email [email protected]. Let’s consider the role of women throughout the Church’s long history. Jesus had many women followers, among them Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Susanna, as well as Martha and Mary (the sisters of Lazarus). Jesus welcomed them warmly in a way that certainly shocked his contemporaries, Our Friends of OLGC Parish and he allowed those women to serve him in varied ways as his disciples. However, Christ only commissioned his male disciples as his apostles (Matthew 10:2-4), whom he We would like to invite you back to our eventually entrusted with the sacraments of the Holy Coffee and Cake Socials starting in October. This was never done as matter of dis- crimination, but rather following the example given by Christ and the first generation of the Church’s leadership.
