WOLF KNOTS
Overhand or Thumb Knot
Is the smallest, simplest and most commonly used of all the knots. Starting point for many knots. Used to prevent the end of a rope from untwisting. When tied at the end or standing part of a rope, this knot prevents it from sliding through a block, hole, or another knot. . Jams easily - better to use a Figure Eight Knot.
To tie an Overhand Knot:
Make a loop near the end of the rope. Pass the running end through the loop and Draw tightly.
Square Knot: Secure non critical items. Can slip and come off if under stress. Mainly used to attach 2 pieces of Rope
Pass the right-hand running end over and under the left-hand running end. Bring the two running ends together. Pass the left-hand running end over and under the right-hand running end. Draw tight. It makes no difference whether the first crossing is tied left-over-right or right-over-left as long as the second crossing is tied opposite to the first crossing.
BEAR KNOTS Whipping allows you to tie the ends of several ropes together, especially useful in making sure the ends of the rope don’t untie. WHIPPING: METHOD 2: Narration ----- (For whipping [method 2] knotboard.) (1) Form a bight in the end of a 24 inch piece of twine and lay it parallel to the end of the rope so that part of the short side of the bight is extending beyond the end of the rope. (2) Take a wrap around the end of the rope; hold the bight and the wrap in place with the thumb and forefinger; pull wrap tight. (3) When the length of the whipping is equal to the diameter of the rope, reeve the end of the twine through the eye of the bight. (4) Pull wrappings tight. (5) Pull on the end of the twine that is extending beyond the end of the rope until a bight of the free end of the twine is pulled under and to the mid point of the wrappings. (6) Finish the whipping by cutting off the ends of the twine.

Sheet Bend: The Sheet Bend is a useful knot for tying two ropes together, even when rope sizes and materials differ greatly. The smaller rope is the one you move.
Optional Two Half Hitch Knot: Knot is basically an overhand knot done twice. Used to attach a rope to a tree, boat or other object like a ring.
Optional Slip Knot is used to temporarily tie something to an object when it is pulled. Good when you want to attach things to tent poles.
Taut‐line hitch knot: Favorite camping knot since it will allow you to tie it to a post or a fixed object and have a sliding knot for you to tighten or loosen as needed.
Clove hitch: Useful know at camp and easy to tie and untie and will hold firmly. But not secure and will release under stress.
