Lachlan Barth is a lawyer in the Project , Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group. He is an Australian qualified lawyer with strong experience gained via assisting with multiple energy projects in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. He has assisted various large project developers, sponsors and financiers with their energy and infrastructure projects, investments and acquisitions. This includes renewable energy (wind, solar, biogas), thermal power, upstream and mid-stream oil & gas, infrastructure and infrastructure-like assets, real estate and acquisitions generally. His experience includes client secondment experience at a large Korean power producer and at one of Australia’s largest fund managers. Lachlan has a focus on assisting Korean energy project developers, lenders, fund managers and private equity houses with their projects and acquisitions both outbound and inbound.

RECENT REPRESENTATIVE CASES

 Project Galaxy – advising NHIS & NH in respect to the approx. USD 10.1 Billion acquisition of an interest in an ADNOC owned and operated natural gas pipeline network in Abu Dhabi.  Assisting Hana Financial Investment Co., Ltd., (“HFI”) with:  debt financing to Phoenix Tower group for the purchase and operation of a portfolio of mobile communication towers in Ireland;  USD 150 Million debt financing to Capital Dynamics group for purchase of a suite of operating solar farms spread across the USA;  multiple facilities extended to Aberdeen Standard Investments to assist with Aberdeen’s investments into PPP infrastructure in the USA (including Rail and Toll Roads).  Advising Shinhan Bank & Kookmin Bank and drafting senior financing documents for the senior loan project financing of a greenfield wind farm development in Sweden.  Assisting Hanwha and HFI with their senior loan to project finance a free standing ESS in California, USA.  Assisting Equis with all aspects of their first greenfield solar development in Korea from permitting and project due diligence to drafting project and finance documents to closing.  Advising Total Energies with their joint venture development of an approx. 1.5GW offshore wind farm development in Korea.  Advising Northland Power with respect to their ongoing investments in Korean offshore wind farm developments.  Advising Enel with respect to their ongoing Korean solar and wind farm developments.  Advising Blueleaf Energy with respect to their entry into the Korean renewable energy market including with respect to their first Korean solar project.  Assisting multiple Korean financial institutions (NHIS, KB, HFI, Mirae Asset etc.) with numerous Australian PPP debt financings including with respect to North-East Link, New Royal Adelaide Hospital, Inland Rail and EastLink.  Assisting KEPCO with its bid to develop a gas-fired power station in Saudi Arabia in cooperation with Saudi Aramco.

 Advising Anschutz Entertainment Group in connection with a proposed USD 100 million investment into a joint venture with CJ ENM for a Korean Arena Project.  PineStreet Asset Management Co., Ltd. in connection with a AUS$242 million secured credit loan facility for KKR’s acquisition of Arnotts Campbell group in Australia.  Korean Counsel to Aberdeen Standard Investments in connection with its fund sell down of its interests in the New Royal Adelaide Hospital, New Queensland Rollingstock, Mundarring Water Treatment Plant and Denver FastTracks PPPs.  Shinhan Asset Management with its cross-border financing of a suite of solar farms being developed in Japan by a Canadian Solar / Macquarie led consortium.  Samsung Asset Management with the private placement bond refinancing of the Norte II gas-fired power plant in Mexico.
