Back in the day, circa 1985, Dave Rothstein on promo tour with Ashford & Simpson. The last time I spoke with Dave, it was the day before Thanksgiving and he was thanking me for being a good friend...because when all is said and done, this business really is all ßY ANNETTE M. LAI about the relationships-the friendships. David Rothstein left us Thursday, December 6th, succumbing to cancer. He was 55 and is survived by his much-cherished daughter Shay of Gunnison, Colorado, as well as his mother, brother, and sister, who still reside in New York. A native New Yorker, Rothstein made his way into the music business when he was hired Trevor Jones as the first Denver local for Wamer/Elektra/Atlantic (yes, all three labels!) in the early '70s. He joined Capitol Records in 1975, and he spent the bulk of his career there, working with COMPOSER artists like Tina Turner, Heart, and Bob Seger. Among the posts he held at the label during his tenure Denver local, West Coast Album -Rock promotion director, and Northern Hometown: California local. He left the label in 1993 and in later years, served as GAVIN'S Manager of Recent/upcoming credits: Jones, a Golden Globe and Radio Services, until last year when he returned to Colorado and moved to Gunnison, to be Emmy nominee, has scored more than 6o motion pictures. closer to his daughter.
