Utah Housing has a new CEO – welcome to

David comes to Housing from the Office of , where he served for seven years as chief deputy and more than five years as Utah’s state treasurer. During his time in office, he served as an ex officio member of 19 boards and commissions, including Utah Housing’s Board of Trustees.

Per David’s bio on the Utah.gov website, he is a former U.S. Coast Guard officer and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. He was the 2019 president of the National Association of State Treasurers, and just completed his 18th season as a volunteer member of the National Ski Patrol.

He has extensive experience in institutional investments and treasury operations. Before joining the treasurer’s office, he spent nearly twenty years in the private sector in the institutional trust and custody, treasury management, and retail divisions of a national banking organization.

Governor Cox applauded David to The Salt Lake Tribune. “As state treasurer for the past five years, David Damschen has safeguarded individual property rights and greatly contributed to Utah’s tremendous economic success…We’re grateful for his commitment to public service and wish him every success as CEO of the Utah Housing Corporation.”

Utah Attorney General, Sean D. Reyes acclaims “[David] will be a tremendous advocate for affordable housing in our state...He is not only respected throughout Utah but across the country as a leader in his field.”

Senate President Stuart Adams also tweeted his support and congratulations to David, saying he has “done incredible things for Utah”, and I believes David will continue to use his “expertise in future roles to contribute to our state’s success.” According to David’s Twitter profile he wants to be Spider-Man when he grows up, we support this. 

“Helping the people of Utah achieve home ownership.”
