01’23’’ Voice Over: Organised separately from the World Series by Renault – who’s first full racing package is scheduled at Motorland Aragon on 27 and 28 April - the first Formula Renault 3.5 Series couple of races were hosted North-East of Milan, on a track of legend: the “temple of speed” of Monza!

01’52’’ Jingle Feature: 2014 FR3.5 Series Drivers Presentation

01’57’’ VOICE-OVER It’s a well-known fact that Formula Renault 3.5 is the antechamber to Formula One. Kevin Magnussen for one would have a thing or two to say about that, just like a swathe of other top young drivers in the field.

That’s why, more than ever, eyes are on the hottest contenders in the category - some of whom are sure to rise in the ranks in the next year or so – becoming future legends. Today we spotlight just a few of the favourites…

02’29’’ Interview Sergei SIROTKIN #3 – Fortec Motorsport (in English) “My name is Sergei Sirotkin. I am racing with Fortec Motorsport in the Renault World Series 3.5… ”

02’35’’ VOICE-OVER Sergey’s sponsor is SMP Racing… a big asset…

02’39’’ Interview Sergei SIROTKIN #3 – Fortec Motorsports (in English) “It’s a really great junior team. It’s really helping the drivers to learn to be able to get from a low level of karting up to a Formula One level or Indycar. ”

4

02’54’’ Interview Oliver ROWLAND #4 (GBR) Fortec Motorsport (in English) “Hi. My name is Oliver Rowland and this year I’ll be racing in Formula Renault 3.5 with Fortec Motorsport…”

02’59’’ VOICE-OVER Rowland was 2 nd last year in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0…

03’03’’ Interview Oliver ROWLAND #4 (GBR) Fortec Motorsport (in English) “I showed last year in Eurocup that I could be consistent, so I suppose it’s just getting to grips with the car, working with the engineers and making sure we’re at the front every race…”

03’17’’ Interview #11 (GBR) Strakka Racing (in English) “Hi. I’m Will Stevens, and I’m racing this year for Strakka Racing in Formula Renault 3.5…”

03’24’’ VOICE-OVER Despite a poor run last season, Will has a positive outlook for 2014…

03’31’’ Interview Will STEVENS #11 (GBR) Strakka Racing (in English) “As you can see from last year, consistency is the key. We lacked that last year – we didn’t finish five races, so we need to be finishing every race and obviously chasing the wins…”

5

03’46’’ Interview Pierre GASLY #7 (FRA) Arden Motorsport (in FRENCH) “Hello, my name is Pierre Gasly. I am Eurocup champion in 2 litres in 2013. This year I am driving for Arden Motorsport in 3.5 and my goal is to win the championship.”

03’55’’ VOICE-OVER Gasly knows the stakes here are a lot higher…

04’00’’ Interview Pierre GASLY #7 (FRA) Arden Motorsport (in FRENCH) “There is a good level between Sainz, Oliver, Stevens… there are several of us in front each time and it’s very close. We’ll have to avoid errors throughout the season if we want to play for the lead.”

04’18’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ #1 (ESP) DAMS Motorsport Red Bull (in ENGLISH) “Hello. I’m Carlos Sainz. I’m 19 years old. This year I will race for Dams Racing as part of the Red Bull Junior program.”

04’25’’ VOICE-OVER Testing in Formula One has given Sainz a taste of bigger things … but he’s keeping his feet on the ground.

04’34’’ Interview Carlos SAINZ #1 (ESP) DAMS Motorsport Red Bull (in ENGLISH) “I only had a half a season in my 3.5 and there are people who have two or three so it’s never going to be easy.”

6

04’44’’ Interview Marco SORENSEN #9 (DK) Tech 1 Racing (in ENGLISH) “Hello. I’m Marco Sorrensen. I’m racing for Tech 1 in 3.5 World Series.”

04’49’’ VOICE-OVER In his third year in the series, experience is on Sorensen’s side…

04’56’’ Interview Marco SORENSEN #9 (DK) Tech 1 Racing (in ENGLISH) “Let’s just say that I hope this season will be a bit luckier than last year, because there was a lot of bad luck that prevented us from going high in the championship.”

05’07’’ VOICE-OVER (fast) They have just goal…

Leave original language Six drivers: “I’m going to win the championship this year!”

05’31’’ Jingle Highlights FR3.5 Qualifying 1

05’40’’ Voice Over: Malaysian Jazeman JAAFAR #17 (ISR) set the first benchmark of the session, but Spanish Carlos SAINZ #1 (Dams) was about to be the ace, improving the best lap three times in a row to get his maiden pole position in the Series with reigning champion’s team Dams. His opponents woke up toward the end, but it was too late to catch him up.

… (Pause)

7

It Seems the N°1 from 2013 champion Kevin Magnussen is a lucky charm for Sainz! His pole is also a nice gift for his father’s birthday: the WRC former world champion and Dakar winner turns 52 years old that day in Monza.

06’33’’ ITW POLE SITTER Carlos SAINZ #1 (Dams) IN ENGLISH Q: It must be a fantastic feeling right now? A. “My first pole position in the category for the first race of the championship, it’s a great feeling! It was quite closed towards the end of the session: I manage to find the limit earlier than the others, but they nearly caught up. I am very happy. Competition is huge in this championship, so being on pole is always a great feeling.”

07’00’’ Q: What is going to be the strategy for the race? A: “Pole gives a little bit of an advantage, but Monza is a track where you will have lot’s of overtaking. Maybe it’s the worst pole position of the year, because you have plenty of time before turn 1, with lots of cars on the long straight before braking. It will be very important to get a good start and try to push to create a gap. If not, race is going to be tough...”

PART 2

00’00’’ Jingle Feature “Monza: technical facts”

00’04’’ Opening Clip - Do not talk

00’13’’ ITW Benoît Dupont Motorsport Coordinator – Renault Sport Technologies IN FRENCH “Monza is the temple of speed, a myth, a good track for drivers scholarship. It’s a Formula One circuit, young drivers will be back here in the future. They must be ready to deal with the Monza challenge. It’s a different layout compare to the others, with very low downforce. A Formula Renault 3.5 reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. It’s the fastest track on the World Series by Renault calendar.”

00’49’’ “It’s quite a challenge regarding car set-up: you must find the right balance because the lack of aero makes the car sensitive on longer braking, in the chicane with kerbs, and in the terrific Parabolica where a low downforce car needs real driving skills!

01’15’’ “Racing in Monza is also about strategy. Drivers must learn to use the slipstream in order to overtake. Nevertheless, the DRS advantage is low here as the wing is already in a low aero configuration.

01’47’’ Jingle Highlights FR3.5 Series Race 1

01’50’’ Race is about to start and there some electrical issues on the car of pole sitter Carlos SAINZ Junior #1 (Dams) , who finally can’t start (see @ the right).

01’57’’ Race START

9

Bad start for William BULLER #8 (GB / Arden Motorsport) and Luca GHIOTTO #6 (ITA / International Draco Racing). Will STEVENS #11 (GB / Strakka Racing) takes the lead. At the first chicane, Pierre GASLY #7 (FRA / Arden Motorsport) tries an outside and is forced to cut. SAINZ will be back in the race later, but for nothing.

02’20’’ End of Lap 1, Marco SORENSEN #9 (DEN / Tech 1 Racing) tries to overtake Jazeman JAAFAR #17 (MAL / ISR) to get P7. But a move to the right from the Dane provokes a MASSIVE CRASH. Both drivers are safe. SAFETY CAR. 5 grid places penalty next race for SORENSEN . SAFETY CAR.

02’36’’ RESTART Will STEVENS #11 leader, P2 is #22 (ESP / Zeta Corse), P3 is Pierre GASLY #7.

02’45’’ Lot’s of battles in the pack: Pietro FANTIN #5 (BRA / International Draco Racing) versus Matthieu VAXIVIERE #16 (FRA / Lotus) at the back.

02’53’’ William BULLER #8 (GB / Arden Motorsport) gets Roman MAVLANOV #21 (RUS / Zeta Corse) for P5.

02’58’’ Fight for P7: Oliver ROWLAND #4 (GB / Fortec Motorsports) and Marlon STOCKINGER #15 (CZE / Lotus).

03’19’’ Sergey SIROTKIN #3 (RUS / Fortec Motorsports) attacks STOCKINGER #15 (CZE / Lotus).

03’25’’ Zoel AMBERG #20 (SWI / AVF) aggressive to get into the points. MAVLANOV #21 in trouble.

03’38’’ Sergey SIROTKIN #3 (RUS / Fortec Motorsports) pays cash for his generous style !

03’46’’ Backmarkers don’t give up, Matthieu VAXIVIERE #16 (FRA / Lotus) pushes hard…

04’02’’ And the Frenchman run wide.

04’14’’ It’s a flying victory for Will STEVENS #11 (GB / Strakka Racing), his first win in the Series or far.

04’23’’ GRAPHICS Race classification

04’34’’ Celebration

04’40’’ ITW WILL STEVENS IN ENGLISH How do you feel on this first race day of the season? “I’m really happy. It’s my first win in the World Series. It took a long time coming. The car was mega. We knew we worked hard during the winter, we are very confident at the moment. We manage to get a good start, we knew the race pace would be strong, and we controlled the race very well.”

05’00’’ You just kept digging the gap, what was the secret? “We’ve got confidence in everything we’ve got. We are strongest in the race. We knew if I could go out in front we would be able to that kind of

11

performance. It’s been a long time coming but we found and showed we can do it.”

05’18’’ Podium

Will STEVENS #11 (GB / Strakka Racing) Luca GHIOTTO #6 (ITA / International Draco Racing) Rookie Pierre GASLY #7 (FRA / ARDEN MOTORSPORT) Rookie

05’33’’ Jingle Feature: Pierre Gasly, the hungry rookie

05’39’’ VOICE OVER He won the 2013 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. He graduated to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series this year. He could reach Formula One within two years. But at the age of 18, Frenchman Pierre Gasly participated a very special race a few weeks ago…

005’56’’ ITW Pierre Gasly #7 FRA - Arden Motorsport IN FRENCH “Yes, I’ve got my Driving Licence last month, just for my birthday. It is quite an experience as the speed limits are slightly different between racing on tracks and driving on open roads!”

06’11’’ VOICE OVER He admits high expectations, albeit being a rookie who must adapt to a car considered as a real mini F1.

06’21’’ ITW Pierre Gasly #7 FRA - Arden Motorsport “My goal for the season is to win races as soon as possible. I think I do lack some experience compared to some other drivers. There is much more horsepower, more aerodynamic grip, plus carbon brakes. It’s a very different

12

car and you must re-learn everything. It takes a deep commitment and hard work to find the limits of this car, which is simply incredible…”

06’44’’ VOICE OVER During the winter, Pierre joined the Red Bull Junior Team, a major boost on the road to Formula One.

06’54’’ ITW Pierre Gasly #7 FRA - Arden Motorsport “Being part of this development program is the chance of my life. I was waiting for such a support. It is what I need to continue to grow up. I was in the simulator last week to prepare Monza, then I went for some physical tests in Austria, and I will be back in the simulator to work on Motorland. I have everything to perform well this season…”

07’17’’ VOICE OVER The Frenchman thinks he’s got some strong arguments, based on his Formula Renault 2.0 achievements.

07’26’’ ITW Pierre Gasly #7 FRA - Arden Motorsport “I did manage to deal with pressure all through the season. I was always there at the right times, especially in qualifying: it was my foundation work to build strong weekends. Qualy is everything if you want to grab valuable points on every race.”

07’48’’ VOICE OVER It’s pretty clear: don’t tell him about his age, or inexperience, the young gun is hungry.

07’56’’ ITW Pierre Gasly #7 FRA - Arden Motorsport

13

“Listen, I’m here to win the championship. I will just work harder than the others in order to beat them…”

PART 3

00’00’’ Jingle Highlights FR3.5 Qualifying 2

00’04’’ Russian Sergey SIROTKIN #3 (Fortec Motorsports) is the fastest driver at the beginning of the second qualifying session.

00’20’’ His team mate, british Oliver ROWLAND #4 (GB) seems hot too and set immediately a new benchmark.

00’41’’ But Spanish kid Carlos SAINZ Junior #1 (Dams) will hit the track at the right time later on, meeting perfect conditions to get his second pole position in a row in Monza. A sharp strategy for a stunning lap: 8 tenths of second faster than P2 Marlon STOCKINGER #15 (CZE / Lotus)! P3 is for Jazeman JAAFAR #17 (MAL / ISR). Winner or Race 1, Will STEVENS #11 (GB / Strakka racing) will only be P14 on the Race 2 grid.

01’02’’ ITW POLE SITTER Carlos SAINZ #1 (Dams) In ENGLISH Q: “It was a bit long finding the right time – what was the difficulty this morning?

A: We started on quite old tyres, which meant we were not going to have the grip. At the beginning the track was quite green also. We kept calm and we didn’t go too crazy on the set-up for the second run. We just waited for the track to come to us and I think it was the right choice. Actually my lap was really, really good. I’m quite happy with my own performance, because it’s really nice to fight back as we did – compared to yesterday – it was a really bad day for us, not to start the race, because of an electrical issue. But it’s the best feeling to fight back and do it in this way.”

01’45’’ ITW Marco SORENSEN #9 (DAN/Tech 1 Racing). P21 on grid / Race 2.

15

In ENGLISH Q: How do you feel today after yesterday’s big crash in Race 1? A: I’m feeling quite OK. The car took a lot of damages for sure. It’s a good job by the team. They actually got a new car to put on the track today. I’m quite happy to run today to be honest.”

02’03’’ Jingle Feature ITW Patrice RATTI - Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies

02’09’’ VOICE-OVER (17”) The World Series by Renault continues to evolve over time, with TV audiences on the rise, and growing crowds flocking to the tracks. But just what will the series be like this year? We put the question to the Managing Director of Renault Sport Technologies, Patrice Ratti…

02’26’’ Interview Patrice RATTI – Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies (in English)

“2014 is our tenth season of the World Series. We will be going back to Nürburgring, to Spa, to Monaco, to Moscow, and the big new thing this year is Jerez where we are going for the first time, the circuit of Jerez being a new partner of the World Series by Renault.

02’44’’ VOICE-OVER With such a glorious past, continuous innovation is a key to the future. So exactly what stands out as being different this year?

02’56’’ Interview Patrice RATTI – Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies (in English)

“The first thing is the car itself. We’ve been improving it every year and we have today a very good performance-to-cost ratio. The car is very fast. The second

16

thing is the number of drivers from different countries and the driver development programmes. They are very, very high level… the races are very competitive and every year it’s more and more of this.”

03’22’’ VOICE-OVER And with the likes of Magnussen already on the F1 podium, it’s a just reward for the organisers, the drivers, and the spectators as well… World Series by Renault opens the gates to the loftiest heights.

03’37’’ Interview Patrice RATTI – Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies (in English)

“It’s very satisfying. He spent two years in Formula Renault 3.5. The second year he was extraordinary, and he shows now that he’s really worth what McLaren has invested in him…”

03’49’’ VOICE-OVER Of course, Magnussen is just one of almost 20 drivers who’ve migrated to the highest echelon.

03’58’’ Interview Patrice RATTI – Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies (in English)

“Every year we’ve had at least one driver – like Daniel Ricciardo who is currently doing very great in Formula One, Jean-Eric Vergne… So every year we have at least one and we are very happy with that …”

04’11’’ VOICE-OVER … A movement set to accelerate as an increasing number of F1 Junior Teams are involved…

17

04’20’’ Interview Patrice RATTI – Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies (in English)

“It’s very important to us because it’s the easiest way for a driver to get to Formula One later and it shows the importance that the Formula One teams give to our series – Red Bull, for a very long time, but also more recently, Lotus, McLaren, Ferrari...”

04’42’’ VOICE-OVER And with such an exceptional field of drivers, just who is the favourite?

04’50” Interview Patrice RATTI – Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies (in English)

“All of them are really worth it. If you look at today’s qualifying, 14 were within one second. That shows there is really competition. Of course Carlos Sainz has dominated the two days so far, but it’s only the beginning, and I think we’re going to have some nice battles during the year…”

05’10’’ VOICE-OVER For the Renault Sport Technologies Managing Director, pride is in no way a sin, as the future of the series has never looked brighter…

05’25’’ Jingle Highlights FR3.5 Race 2

18

05’29’’ Race START Carlos SAINZ Junior #1 (Dams) gets off to a clean start from pole, with fellow front row starter Marlon STOCKINGER #15 (Lotus) in second position.

05’44’’ Meanwhile it’s a bad start for Jazeman JAFAAR #17 (ISR) who started from third place on the grid but heads off on the first corner.

05’50’’ Meindert VAN BUUREN #26 (Pons Racing) spins.

05’55’’ Will STEVENS #11 (Strakka Racing) – winner of race 1, in an overtaking manoeuvre, comes into contact with the car of William BUTLER #8 (Arden Motorsport) and will be out of the running. (+ Replay)

06’10’’ Carlos SAINZ Junior #1 (Dams) digs a clear gap lap by lap on the rest of the field.

06’15’’ Oliver ROWLAND #4 (Fortec) is working back up through the field, here attacking and getting around Zoel AMBERG #20 for tenth place.

06’26’’ One of the closest battles is between Nikolay MARTSENKO #27 and Pietro FANTIN #5 for P7. MARTSENKO attacks over and over… pushing it as hard as he can … the action is absolutely breath-taking!

19

06’53’’ And in the end, the Russian gets the upper hand, slipping through on the inside.

07’04’’ Roberto MEHRI #22 (Zeta Corse) is off.

07’09’’ Carlos SAINZ Junior #1 (Dams) is never threatened, and as the finish line draws near, he’s dug a gap of over ten seconds on the rest of the field… He cruises to a well-deserved victory – making it look like a Sunday drive!

07’26’’ There’s jubilation in his camp…

07’32’’ … and Carlos’s father is overwhelmed by the emotion!

07’37’’ (GRAPHICS - Race classification) Second across the line is Marlon STOCKINGER #15 and in third place, it’s Sergey SIROTKIN #3.

07’47’’ ITV – Carlos SAINZ #1 (ESP) – DAMS (FR) – in SPANISH “It was a good way to take revenge for yesterday. The car has been working well this weekend and we were in front for qualifying. We missed the start yesterday but we’ve worked it out today in the best way possible. I thank all of the Dams team. They’re doing a great job and it’s great for the season.”
