BIOGRAPHY FOR:

CAPT GARRY MORPHET, M.M.M., CD

Originally, from Toronto Ontario, Capt Garry Morphet joined the Canadian Forces in Toronto, 16 July 1976. After completing Cornwallis, his first posting was to CFB Petawawa where he spent one year with the Royal Canadian Regiment and four years with the Canadian Airborne Regiment in both 2 CDO and 3 CDO before re-mustering to electrician with the Construction Engineers. On completion of trades- training, he was posted to CFB in 1982 as an apprentice electrician. He was promoted to MCpl in 1985.

In 1986, he was posted to CFS Beaver Lodge as the Electrical Shop Supervisor during the station closure. In 1988, he was posted to the electrical shop at CFB Borden and in 1989 was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 1992 - promoted to the rank of WO and posted to CFB Petawawa as the OPI of Special Projects in the Production Cell of BCE. In 1994 - the 2 Area Construction Troop was stood up and he assumed the duties of Troop Warrant Officer. In 1995 - posted to 1 CEU, Moncton New Brunswick where he assumed the position as the NCO I/C of the Electrical Design Cell. In 1998 - posted to the Canadian Embassy in Peking, China where he was employed as the Superintendent of Building Maintenance and Projects. In 2001 - returned to to take up the position as Operations Superintendent at WCE in 8 Wing Trenton and in the same year was deployed to CFS Alert for six months as the Station Warrant Officer. One year later, he was moved over to the 81 Airfield Engineer Flight as the Flight Sergeant Major. In August of 2004 - he assumed the position of Squadron Chief Warrant Officer for the 8 Wing Base Construction Engineers. In 2005 - he was posted to CFB Borden to take up the position of Unit CWO and Deputy Building Services Officer for the Construction Engineers.

He moved on to 22 Wing North Bay in 2006 as the Branch Chief Warrant Officer for the Wing Administration and Technical Services Branch and was promoted the rank of Capt 3 July 07 through the Special Requirements Commissioning Program. Upon commissioning he moved on to ASU London Ontario to the position of CEO. In 2009 - he was then posted to the position of Special Projects Officer, BCE, CFB Kingston.

Capt Morphet was the successful candidate for a ‘Class B’ contract as the Project Team Commander at BCE and shortly afterwards became the Works Officer.

In 2013 - he was posted to the Integrated Personnel Support Centre in Kingston and attached back to the Engineer Support Squadron as the acting Municipal Services Officer.

Capt Morphet’s tours include: Ismailia Egypt, Golan Heights, Former Republic of Yugoslavia, Haiti, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kabul Afghanistan, Peking China and Alert.

Garry and his lovely wife Mignon will be remaining in the Kingston area where he will be pursuing further employment opportunities and fishing.
