What relati n d es the Foli bear to the Quarto version Are w e permitted to see the growth of Shakes ’ peare s mind in a revisi o n This last query was answered i n the affirmative by some o f the last century commentators ; o e e and , in the present century , the same Opini n has b n a M r held by various Shakespearian schol rs , among others by . o o w ho o f C llier and by the Cambridge Edit rs , speak differences between the Quarto and Foli o editi o ns as

resulting from deliberate correction , first by the author o himself , and sec ndly by some less skilful hand .
