23rd Sunday In Ordinary Time Year C 8 September 2019

Weekend Masses A different journey Saturday Vigil 5pm Hanmer Springs Christian life is a non-stop journey with Jesus. Now-a-days, theoretically, many claim to be (Every Saturday) Christians, but, in fact, they are not sharing their journey with Jesus: they stay right at the 6:30pm Culverden starting point and do not even begin their trip, or give it up as soon as they can, or just take (1st Sunday 2nd & 3rd a different trip with other fellow travellers. The luggage to carry to make the journey of our Saturdays) life along with Jesus is the Cross, each one with his own; but, all along, with our share of suffering for those following Christ, there is also included the consolation which God Sunday Mass soothes his followers with, in all their trials. God is our hope and the source of life is in him. 9am Amberley (Every Sunday) Today also we celebrate the nativity of mother Mary. The Church has celebrated Mary’s 11am Cheviot (1st, 2nd, 3rd Sundays Only) birth since at least the sixth century. A September birth was chosen because the Eastern Church begins its Church year with September. The September 8 date helped determine the 10.30am Hawarden (4th Sunday Only) date for the feast of the on December 8. 11.30am Waiau (5th Sunday Only) Birthday celebrations bring happiness to the celebrant as well as to family and friends. Next to the birth of Jesus, Mary’s birth offers the greatest possible happiness to the world. Each time we celebrate her birth, we can confidently hope for an increase of peace in our hearts Weekday Masses and in the world at large. God bless you.
