Money Tips for College Students By: Destiny Royston

Everyone loves money and wants to know how to save money and spend it better. Being a college student comes with responsibilities including finances and savings. Saving is vital and shows how responsible you are with money therefore focusing on your budget can help build credit and that will benefit you in the long-run. These tips will also help you if you live on your own and need financial tips on saving better. First when it comes to saving money, you have to create a budget. One way to start is to separate needs from want. Is gas a need or want? Is a new video game or clothes a need or want? A better way to save money is to put your needs first and your wants last then you’ll have everything you need with any extra spending money going towards what you want. Getting bills out of the way will also help with your credit so you won’t be in debt. Track what you spend and don’t buy things with money you don’t have. For instance if you have a credit card and buy things that you know you can’t pay back, don’t buy it, since it’ll affect your credit which in the long- run since is important. Second try not to apply to too many student loans because they’ll build up and before you know it, you’re thousands of dollars in debt and you can’t pay it back. If you can’t avoid student loans create a savings account. Every month deposit money into your savings so overtime it will build and you can start paying back your student loans. Additionally, when you’re starting college, credit becomes important because it’s what determines how well you handle money and there are credit cards just for students. If you have a high credit score, it shows you are responsible with money and paying bills on time. Start building your credit in college by applying to credit cards, but not too many, and buying inexpensive things that can easily be paid back. For instance, Discover is a great place to start because they give you a large amount of money on a credit card and when you decide to spend it, you have a month to pay back a certain amount. If you pay it in full or partially, that will increase your credit score and over time your score will increase depending on how well you pay back the money. With a high score, you can have a better chance to apply for loans, other credit cards, low interest rates, and better car insurance rates. Take advantage of these money tips and budgeting plans so you won’t be struggling financially. Saving money can be difficult at first but look into the future where you will have enough money in your pocket with some in savings for emergencies and/or student loans. Start saving and building a budget as soon as possible so you can live stress free when it comes to financial stability.

Yummy or Crummy?: Fuel Café By: Celeste Riley

Memphis has an array of food options that are scrumptious and soothing to your palate such as Fuel Café. This quaint little restaurant has been open in Memphis for seven years now and recently had a renovation that includes a wood oven as well as new menu options. It used to be a gas station which was converted into an eclectic restaurant that is a relaxing stop for students meeting up with friends.
