The 38

The main purpose of this sequence is to introduce a fighter to effective body punching once he is on the inside. The two best body punches used in are the and the heart punch. Within the chest cavity there exists over a hundred thousand nerve transmitters just like in the cranial cavity. This is why any good concussive blow to this area, either with a or a punch, can cause an instant .

Its name, the 38, is derived from the fact that years ago local cops carried caliber 38 pistols as firearms. When they would fire a shot to either side of the body, the liver on the right or the heart more so on the left, the bullets would cause a contusion type wound knocking the internal organs from one side of ones to the other. The hook to the liver and the hook to the heart have the same effect.

Once a fighter has learned how to walk his opponent to the ropes, such as lining up a taller opponent with demonstrated in the shotgun sequence, he can go under the punches to work the body, and then back up to the head. A disciplined fighter will learn how to squeeze, (cut the ring off), line his opponent up walking him to the ropes, and then execute the 38 to finish him.

This is one of our required sequences used for testing first time black belts in our system. It is great for creating numerous module combinations for sparring drills, and can help any fighter learn how to get inside a taller opponent or sharpshooter type using the stealthy, double slip defensive penetration behind the jab
