Cinco años después, el 23 de diciembre de 1707, el Presidente de la Audiencia de la Nue- va Galicia don José de Bazarte y Lorenzana autorizaba la fundación de la Villa de San José de Bazarte, tras de la solicitud hecha de un grupo de españoles que radicaban en las inmediaciones, que pedían la creación de tener “asiento para españoles” ya que en Tepatitlán era donde vivían los indios protegidos por las leyes reales que les otorgaron un fundo legal que contenía terrenos comunales utilizados para siembras que abastecían las necesidades alimentarias de la población indígena de la Villa. En las actas de cabildo del 12 de octubre de 1889 hay una referencia de este fundo legal que tenía una dimen- sión de 4km. Una legua de diámetro en 1825. A orillas de este límite los criollos españoles fundaron la Villa antes señalada. They sidestep the issue of a subjective understanding of geography. But places are scaled and rescaled on the basis of their changing importance within imagined and remembered religious landscapes. This article shows how Santa Ana de Guadalupe in Jalisco, Mexico, and the devotions to Santo Toribio that are based there, became a religious hotspot within a transnational religious landscape connecting specific parts of Mexico and the USA. The authors argue that its heightened religious significance rescaled Santa Ana but that religion did not act alone. Santa Ana also lies at the intersection between multiple economic, religious, and political projects that, taken together, greatly enhanced its position within the transnational religious map it helped create. Limita al norte con el municipio de Teocaltiche, al sur con Valle de Guadalupe y San Miguel el Alto, al oriente con el municipio de San Juan de los Lagos y al poniente con Teocaltiche y Cañadas de Obregón. Los terrenos del municipio pertenecen al período Terciario, y están compuestos por rocas sedimentarias.
