Patriot League Announces Academic Honor Roll Army’s Lindsey Gerheim named Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines 48 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll.

Center Valley, Pa. – Army’s Lindsey Gerheim was voted the 2007 Patriot League Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was one of 48 members of the 2007 Patriot League Softball Academic Honor Roll, announced Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich Thursday. Four student-athletes on this year’s academic honor roll earned 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring semester, including Bucknell’s Ashley Carlson and Emily Orazi and Lehigh’s Megan Conrad and Whitney Schenbeck.

Gerheim earned ESPN The Magazine Third-Team Academic All-American honors in 2007 and made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll list for the fourth time in her career. The recent U.S. Military Academy graduate owned a 3.58 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in management. She was also named to the All-Senior All-America Team (First- Team) in the inaugural Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for softball, finishing second overall in a nationwide vote of coaches, media and fans.

The four-time All-Patriot League selection paced the Patriot League in total bases (95), was tied for first in both hits (61) and home runs (seven), while ranking second in batting average (.394). The senior short stop started in all 51 of Army’s games this season, coming up with 30 RBI and 24 runs scored. At the conclusion of the 2007 Patriot League Softball Championship she was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Army captured the Patriot League Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for the second time in Patriot League history. Sheri Schweiker earned the honor in 1994.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.

A total of 989 student-athletes were named to the Patriot League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, which includes the sports of men and women's , men and women's and , men and women's indoor track and field, , , men and women's , rowing, men and women's outdoor track and field, softball and men and women's .
