What type of work does SER do?

In 2011, the St’át’imc signed a settlement agreement with BC Hydro and established 16 monitoring projects (BRGMON) under the Water Use Plan, meant to monitor the effects of the Bridge- Seton hydroelectric system on the surrounding Peoples, ecosystem and environment.

We also work on an as/ when basis with certain projects that may require environmental or fisheries monitoring. What are some WUP projects that I have worked on?

What proportion of total sockeye outmigrants from Seton Lake will pass through the Seton Dam powerhouse when the powerhouse is shut down each night between April 10 th a n d Ma y 2 0 th? 2. How is this proportion affected by the total release of water from the Seton Dam and the configuration of dam discharge? 3. Are there refinements to the seasonal timing of powerhouse shut downs to improve fish protection efficiency ore reduce lost power generation opportunities? BRGMON 1 3

Operation of a Rotary Screw Trap (RST) and an Incline Plane Trap (IPT) in the Seton River below the BC Hydro Seton dam and canal.

Catch, count and record all species trapped.

Perform mark-recapture experiments to test trap efficiency and the effects of dam operation on out-migrating smolts.
